Tea Time Tuesday …. Duke Manor Farm
Thanks for coming by for Tea Time Tuesday …. Duke Manor Farm. I am so glad you are here, we have a lot to catch up on. By the way, isn’t this a super cute mug. I got it on a random shopping trip to the grocery store. Displayed between the bread aisle and the meat department. Who knew you could find cute mugs at the grocery store! If you are wondering, Kroger.
Can I be frank, what the hey is it with trying to lose weight as you get older? I have never struggled with trying to lose 5-10 lbs in my life. But for whatever reason, it’s become increasingly difficult. The exercise routine I use to follow, now needs to be altered with additional days thrown in. The foods I use to eat without a second thought, are now off limits. For the last few weeks, I have been trading in the snacks for the nuts. I have never been a person that enjoys eating nuts, or almonds for that matter, but I constantly read how good they are for you, in that they are loaded with vitamins and protein, so I thought it was time. This is my daily ration.
Yesterday I was able to meet up at lunch with these pals who are also bloggers, that are now my friends. We met each other through our blogs or at blogging conferences. I have known these ladies for several years and truly adore each of them.

In other completely random news, I bought a boat load of terra cotta pots and trays and painted them for around the house. I love how easy it is to transform them with paint so they complement your color scheme. I also did a bunch for teacher appreciation gifts down the road. I think my discovery of painting terra cotta started when I made this cupcake stand here out of a terra cotta saucer.
Remember our first project of the year that I showed you here, the outdoor fire pit….well it kinda grew and morphed into a way bigger project. With the inclement weather over the last month, it gave us a bit more time to think about how we wanted the other spaces to tie into the fire pit area . I am excited to show you are progress in the backyard, but here’s what we accomplished this past weekend.
I tell ya, there’s never a dull moment around this joint….and I love it that way.
One last thing, and not that I want to go all political on you, but does this upcoming Presidential Campaign have you a bit uneasy? It does me.
Thanks again for joining me for tea time Tuesday….Duke Manor Farm.
grateful
for pals that I may not have found, if it wasn’t for the blog
We had so much fun yesterday and it was fun hanging with you again!! I love the yard transformation. Just let me know when it’s finished and we will celebrate with wine!
sure will! hope ya’ll had a good anniversary dinner last night. congratulations!
PS- let me know if you get this reply.
What a fun gathering of talented ladies! Looking forward to seeing the finished back yard — y’all are ambitious!
xo Heidi
thanks Heidi. next time we get together you will have to meet up with us.
Love what you’ve done, it’s gonna be great! Can hardly wait for the whole shebang to be done so I can see how it all turned out!
As far as political stuff, I wish there was a box on the ballot that says ‘none of the above’, can we see some more choices. Not kidding, I don’t like ANY of them. I think they’re every one of them totally unsuitable and I hatehatehate the political deal making and buying of our politicians. I am 61 years old and I am soooo disillusioned with the whole process that our political process has devolved to. I feel my vote does not count worth a fart in a whirlwind, even though I vote every time. Sorry to write a book. Got that off my chest, ha!
I could’nt agree with you more about finishing the project and the politcal landscape these days. Depressing isn’t it. I wonder what will become of the country when my kids are old enough to vote. I always vote my party if nothing else. Hope you are having a great week so far.
Love that mug! And, Yes! Nuts are good for you. Almonds, pistachios, cashews, and walnuts – yes! Good for your heart, bones, lowers cholesterol, etc. You will love them – give them a chance.
I will barbara. I zm not a chip person either.
What fun! Wish I was able to join your fabulous ladies for lunch! And I, too, have been struggling with the whole weight & age thing! Unfortunately for the past 5 years the weight has won. But I’m waging a new, more aggressive war this year!
🙂 Linda
Well you go girl and get it!!! The mention of a diet completely turns me off and mentally i have blown it before i even statrted , so trying to incorporate a few healthty food options into the lifestyle. You would have enjoyed lunch. Fun group.
Your yard is going to be amazing. I am Canadian and your presidential election has
my stomach in knots! I don’t understand why so many people are for Trump. Yes,
I know they are angry but those citizens should be thinking about how he would
handle all the crises in the world instead of voting for a bully and braggart.
I love your country and visit as much as possible. I hate seeing it being made a
mockery because of some inflated Texan politician and a New York want-to-be president.
Thanks lea. You are so right about your view on the candidates. I often wonder what anerica will look like when my kids are old enough to vote…
If i am this frightened and discouraged now about who is running the country.
Love the fire pit area! I too am feeling disheartened with the presidential race. Could we think of any less desirable choices? I too keep almonds for snacking. Keep up the good work.
I know right. Its worse then the worst reality show on bravo.
I love the photo of you ladies together!…..How fun!!!….Wish I was there! Love you ladies!
You and your hubby are always so busy with projects and I so enjoy seeing them … the progress….the beautiful reveals!….and don’t get me started on the “race”…. Have a great day Laura!!!….Oh and invite me too for that glass of wine by the fire!!! 🙂
Wish you lived closer to go to lunch with us. It was a nice time. Abd dont you worry about that invite…
Just bring the wine.😛
Glad to meet Laura’s blogging buddies (at least virtually)
you will have to come to lunch with us….you will fit right in. 🙂
For the first time in my life, we will have a President that looks like me. That’s progress & about time. She is unquestionably the most experienced & best suited to continue what I want the President to do. I love it every time Trump opens his stupid mouth!
Your backyard looks wonderful & such a great place to hang. I always think you are talking about someplace near me as I live a short distance from Duke University in beautiful North Carolina.
People, please don’t bother to respond to MY political choice.
Hey Charley- thanks for your comment. Your area is so pretty, similar to N.Georgia. No worries…Duke Manor Farm has free speech readers . 🙂
The yard looks so inviting already, will look forward to the finished product. If you need a little sweet now & then glaze some nuts with pure maple syrup. They are yummy.
Oh I wish I had been at the lunch! It looks like so much fun. 🙂
And yes! I am worried about the election!
Happy day friend!

Your property is so creatively
Designed! I love the seated sections you designed! Beautiful!
As for me, politically speaking,
Rubio is the one to vote for. We need to elect a president who is pro life!!! Very important in these times we are living in!!!
