Tea Time Friday
This is one of my favorite spots in the house. I feel like I am in a 5 star Tree house…with my tea…in my jammies. Even on a day when the sun didn’t come out, this room is still filled with brightness. I am so glad that we made the decision to transform it. See more about the room here.
I picked up this LOVE pillow a couple of weeks ago, it’s not like I really needed another pillow, but…..isn’t love what it’s all about? Besides, that was my justification for buying the pillow.
Sometimes I wish there was a pause button so we can slow the heck down. Don’t you? Traditionally, this is a very busy time for bloggers, to inspire others, but this year I am choosing to go at a slower pace then usual, that doesn’t cause me so much stress and anxiety. A pace, that will give me the pleasure and satisfaction of the season and of the holidays. A pace that will help create memories for me and my family.
How do you slow down when everything around you is moving at out of control speeds?
Did you hear about the story of the Georgia Trooper who brought comfort to 4 children who lost their parents last weekend in Georgia on Halloween? You can read it here. It’s a heartbreaking tragedy for the family, but also a sign that compassion, heart and love are still out there. Good people do exist.
Stop, rain, stop (as Forest Gump enters my head). We are on our 6 consecutive day of rain in Northeast Georgia. Canceled soccer games, wet hair and people who do not know how to drive….while talking on the phone!
All week I have been sharing on my Instagram and Facebook , pictures of how pretty this time of the year is here at Duke Manor Farm. I would love for you to follow along.
So…how was your week?
Got any big plans for the weekend?
Yes, this time of year does become the busiest and most stressful and I am trying not to get caught up in it. Even with the gloom out you have nice bright photos. My camera went to be fixed yesterday. The metering went out on it which is what I need in this dark weather. If this weather doesn’t break soon I think I’ll drive till I find the sun. 🙂
Have a great weekend Laura…nice having tea with you….It has been gloomy days here recently and I hear that we are in for rain tomorrow…just in time for my antique sale….ugh!…have a great weekend and hope the rain goes away!
Thanks for sharing the story about the family…so sad. My heart breaks for them. ~Sonya
Nothing special this weekend. Some slippers. A warm blanket. A movie. And a glass of wine.
🙂 Linda
that sounds very similiar to the weekend that I had…add in a sore throat.
A dreary day where I am today, but grateful for no white stuff, yet!
I’m refusing to rush the season this year. I’m seeing tons of Christmas and I’m looking the other way until after Thanksgiving. Enjoying this moment.
Bless the Trooper who comforted the family, may all of them find peace.
I love your blog. As I live in England I had not heard about this tragedy & subsequent fundraising. That state trooper was amazing holding it all together till the grandmother arrived. What a terrible journey she had knowing that there lives would never be the same again. It sounds like their parents did a great job in raising them. My heart goes out to those poor children.
I would love to sit and have a cuppa with you, Laura! It is a wildly busy time right now, you are right. I make it a point to work hard all day and then go to bed extra early every night. Gotta take care of ourselves! LOVE to you, my friend!
I couldn’t agree more about geitrarics. I miss sitting with some of the elderly individuals I used to help and they would tell me stories for hours about the things that they witness when they were younger, and the lives that they lived up to the point that they needed care. I have always felt that the elderly know how to live their lives better than anyone, and they for sure never take it for granted! Sometimes the people taking care of them are not good people though, and it always breaks my heart to see someone talking badly to an elderly man or woman.I like how you made a switch from little tiny babies that have no real experience with life, to elderly men and women who have lived life to its fullest and still have more life to share with others. Such opposites!
