Ballard Inspired Charlie Brown Tree #3

I like to think of this as the Charlie Brown meets Burlap Tree, I thought that the first time my eyes saw it in the Ballard Holiday catalog here.

With my burlap mojo not slowing down after making these here and here, I decided to make one of these Ballard inspired trees.

Supplies Needed-
Craft Cones- cardboard or plastic in any size
Burlap Ribbon with a wired edge- where ribbon is sold
Tacky Spray
Scissors

Step 1: Cut your burlap every 1-2 inches, cutting only 1/2 way up the width of your ribbon

Step 2: Measure the circumference of your cone and cut your strips of ribbon for each row. Begin wrapping the cone by rows, working up with your ribbon slightly overlapping so that the top half of the bottom ribbon is showing and not the bare cone.

Note: I found it easier to use tacky spray to secure the ribbon when using the cardboard cones rather then a hot glue gun. For the plastic cone, the hot glue gun worked better when securing the ribbon.

Step 3: Continue wrapping your strips of ribbon on the cone until the cone is completely covered in burlap like this. Next take your hand and fluff up your ends on the tree. Bend some of the ends up for a more random look.

Then the gang sings  “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.”

I think Charlie Brown would have approved!

  1. Hey there! Quick question that's entirely off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My web site looks weird when browsing from my iphone4. I'm trying to find a theme or
plugin that might be able to correct this issue. If you have any suggestions, please
    share. Thank you!
