Summer Backyard Tour
Welcome to my family’s summer hangout….the backyard!Â
If you are joining me from the Welcome Home Summer tour, I am so glad that you are here. If you missed any of the summer spaces, the links will be at the end of the post.
Truth be told, I was a little surprised that the fine folks at Balsam Hill wanted me to pick a few things out of their shop that I could use for my home during the summer months. Naturally, I thought of the lush winter garlands and Christmas trees that I have ordered from them and used during the holidays, but I wasn’t to sure how that kind of stuff would exactly scream summer in my decor, but I looked and I found some other stuff…. I am pretty sure its screaming summer around here…. and so are my kids.
I said it once, I will say it again, this family lives to spend time outside.  More date nights with my husband sipping a cocktail and chit chatting are spent here on the deck in the backyard, along with the kids, dogs, cats and chickens. My new stemless pineapple etched wine glasses should help with any wobbles and spills from the 2 and 4 legs that will be running by us, throughout the night.Â
We so feel blessed to have this outdoor space, to have time together and to see our kids having a good time. For them, the mention of s’mores, swimming or ice cream usually seals the deal. Stick a marshmallow on one of these roasting forks  and that’s all they need.
And when I really want to turn the summer romance up without the kids, dogs, cats and chickens, I plan on a few quite dinners up on the upper deck. I recently got the awning and draped some of these cafe globe lights. Perfect lighting, with my perfect date, for a perfect night.
Â
Enjoy your summer and the rest of the tour!

I was provided product as compensation from Balsam Hill for this post, but the screams and our love for summer are all mine.
gorgeous, laura- such a happy space! love the fire pit!
Everything about your outdoor space says welcome my friend! I love your thoughts on using the space-really your photos and your relaxing evenings outside inspire me – It's Friday, and I'm going to plan a date night in my own garden this weekend! xo
Beautiful space! Have a wonderful weekend!
I've enjoyed the posts of porches and outdoor spaces. However, here in Florida, by June we are only outside to get in the pool. Meals outside are not for us. The heat and especially the humidity is way too oppressive!
Your outdoor space is fab Laura! I can see your kiddos running around and chasing lightening bigs and just having a grand ol time. Have a great summer with your babies!
Can I come live in your backyard? It looks so relaxing and FUN! I need a firepit and a couple of smores!
Looks fabulous. I love the upper deck too.
Your outdoor sitting area looks great! I spy a fire pit too! Oh………..i want one. My husband says he will build me one soon. Fingers crossed.
Wow, your outdoor spaces are so pretty! Kick back, relax and enjoy!
What a beautiful and serene backyard you have!! I love everything…and the tire swing too! Perfect.

I love everything!!! I can see that you have some great family time here. I love the view of the woods, it's like camping!
We need to see more of your upstairs balcony–I don't think I've seen that.
Happy June!

Your outdoor space is just perfect! I would have loved having all that outdoor space as a child…I'd run for the tire swing first. 🙂
Such an inviting space and it sounds like the perfect date night to me! Happy Summer!
Such a nice way to spend time with the family. I want to see more of the awning on the deck. We are planning on building a pergola.
What a beautiful setting! I bet you have lots of relaxing days and evenings out there!
Summer days are the best, Laura, especially with kids. Love your outdoor area and accents. Enjoy your summer!
That all looks so peaceful! I bet there are some memorial moments create there.
I'm on my way over Laura to sit and visit you on your lovely backyard deck!! Gorgeous patio furniture and summer decor!! Our boys love s'more parties by our fire pit too – such an amazing, relaxing way to spend family time in the summer!
Staycations, upper decks, lower decks, it's all awesome.
