My son’s bedroom makeover has been on the to do list for quite some time. The fact that he really doesn’t complain about his room never put the project to the top, although I knew I wanted to get it done by the end of the year.

The main reason for a makeover was the bed. Since my son was still sleeping on the bottom portion of the bunk set that we got for Colton when he was two, I thought it was about time to at least get the bed replaced. The other reason, the space lacked a bit of personality, not at all like my son. I wanted a space that felt more like him.

After clearing out his room, I repainted the walls and ceiling. While in Walmart looking for spray paint one day I came across a color called Quicksilver from Glidden in a flat finish. Since I typically use Behr or SW, I was a bit skeptical, but ended up being pleasantly surprised at the quality and the price. A gallon was only $20.00! I thought it would be a perfect color and a good complement to the rug that I was keeping in the space.

Spoiler alert. I loved the color so much I used it in another bedroom!

The Plan

Since his previous bed had storage drawers, I needed to shop for a dresser. While ordering a new bed, I also get this dresser and floating nightstand. The ceiling fan was acting wonky so I got a new one as well. I picked up the same ones that I have in our gameroom.

The blinds have been here since we built the house so I may update those down the road to woven shades. Which reminds me, I need to dust them.

The room is slightly odd in shape with this knook, so I will be reconfiguring placement of the bed and dresser. The shelf will move to this area…. along with all the hats. My son is fisherman so the vibe will have a slight nod to fishing. You can see my vision of his space in the top photo. I am not doing anything overly themey that can’t be changed out easily, although I don’t see his love for fishing going away anytime soon.

I’ll be back soon with the reveal.
