Simple Tips to Hang Peel and Stick Wallpaper
I love peel and stick wallpaper. It’s so easy to apply and doesn’t have the same commitment that the traditional pasted papers have. Perfect for my ever-changing mind.
I have a big wall in our den that was just so blah and boring. I couldn’t quite figure out how I wanted to give the wall some life, until this peel and stick wallpaper entered the scene.
I had such a good experience when I used peel and stick wallpaper previously in our entry to our master bedroom (by the way, I still love it there). I had planned on using the wallpaper on the ceiling in our workout room, but I realized hanging wallpaper upside down is more difficult than I thought. So I decided to use it on the big wall in the Den.
Here are a few simple tips to hang peel and stick wallpaper
- Measure once, twice and three times. This will eliminate any wasted paper.
- Use the grid/guide on the back of the paper for accurate line cuts
- Sharp scissors are best when cutting the wallpaper
- Use a fresh razor blade when cutting off excess paper for a clean and precise cut
- When removing the wallpaper from the protective paper (backing), be careful not to tear the paper when you are pulling apart (this happened to me)
- Smooth paper down with the palm of your hand or use wallpaper tool. This step is important to get rid of any air bubbles. Do this till no air bubbles remain.
- Since not all walls are perfectly squared, I start at one end of the wall and work my way to the other.
The peel and stick paper was the perfect solution for this wall in the Den. It’s gives just the right amount of interest to what was once a boring white wall. I’m still on the fence about hanging anything on the wall beside the TV. I’ll keep you posted on what I do.

Have you ever used peel and stick wallpaper before? If so, what was your experience?

That looks soo good!! Love it. Thanks for the tips too!
Inspiring! I may now wallpaper the inside of my linen closet. It’s all organized, but still looks kind of blah. Our daughter just used the peel and stick wallpaper in her laundry room, and it looks great.
I found a closet to use the leftover paper i have as well. Good luck with your project! Happy weekend!
