4 Simple Ways to get ready for your mother to visit
4 Simple Ways to get ready for your mother to visit….when she’s sleeping in your kids room.
This post is sponsored by Kohl’s. I was paid for this post and received the included home goods as compensation.
I love when my mom comes for a quick visit to see us. Normally she would stay in the guest house but when it’s just a few days she stays in the house so we can get the most of her visit. She will stay in Lily’s room since it offers the most privacy and it’s the quietest. Although I can’t promise that my mom won’t experience a few extra stuffed animals on the bed or a few lego’s hanging out in the carpet, I can promise her a good nights sleep.
4 Simple Ways to get ready for your mother to visit
My mom is in no way a high maintenance guest, in fact she’s one of the easiest to have around. I do though, like to do a few things for her or any of my overnight guests before they arrive to make sure they are comfortable when away from their own beds and baths. Just so happens, Kohls is having a White Sale on some key essentials to freshen up the bed and bath.
Bedding
Even mom deserves to sleep on nice comfy pillows and not the kids pillow pets! I picked up a couple of new pillows from Kohls with a gel fiber fill. These Columbia Down-Alternative Allergen Pillows , are a perfect blend of softness and firmness to insure a good nights sleep. The moisture wicking technology also means she’ll sleep cool, dry and comfortable while she is having sweet dreams amongst a sea of pink.
Room Extras
On the nightstand I like to place essentials like bottled water, magazines, a sleep mask and my favorite lavender moisturizer. Items that will help anybody sleep better if they are away from their own bed for the night.
Fluffy Towels
Getting a new set of white fluffy towels before mom shows up was perfect timing since my towels are not the best. They always seem to be a mismatch of my favorite towels that aren’t always what you want your guests to be using….or to see. Since my washcloths are the worst, I picked up these as well. New towels can just magically refresh your bathroom space as well, even if you don’t have guests showing up. These Big One towels ( which are currently on sale) come in many colors.
Bath Extras
Since the bathroom floor can be hard on my mom’s feet, I wanted her to step out on softness. This memory foam bath rug from Mohawk is perfect when she steps out of the shower. In addition to the cushion feel it has a charcoal-infused backing which neutralizes odors and a nonslip design. Perfect features when used near the shower area. I love these mats, and the price so much I actually bought some for all of the bathrooms.
I use a tray to hold extra towels and toiletries on the vanity….just in case something was left at home.
Do you have guests showing up or just need to update some of your bedding and bath items. Kohl’s is having a White sale from 8/22 – 9/3 featuring amazing sales from Mohawk, The Big One, Columbia and Serta. All the items that I mentioned above will be on sale. I have also linked them here.

Isn’t it funny how our favorite towels are always the worst looking ones in the linen closet?? I bet your mom feels so welcomed in your gorgeous home when she comes to stay! XOXO
Exciting your mom is coming for a visit. Hope you have a wonderful time. I never heard of this pillow. I like the cooling factor. I’m one of those people that likes a cold pillow.
