What my house lacks in ‘halloweenish’ decorations this year, my kids will make up for in candy. This is the only thing in the house resembling the holiday.  My BFF made this. Too cute!



Opps. When I painted this over a year ago, I applied primer to everything but the sides.


So now this is happening. I am actually thinking about not painting it again and exposing the wood.


 Quick lesson in mum care. When watering mums do not pour water directly on your flowers or this will happen.


Instead, pour water directly into the soil, avoiding your blooms. And give you mums lots of sun, so they will look like this.


Sneak peak at the theme that I will be using for Christmas this year. The sweet ladies at the church made these.

  2. Your BFF is extremely creative ~ love it! It's been hot here still so I haven't bought any mums. Not sure why but the mums and pumpkins are terribly expensive everywhere I've looked.

  3. Morning, had to chuckle when I saw your mum pic. I did the same thing, except mine are in the ground & part of this big oval landscaping focal point we have going in the front yard. All summer I daily watered them along with the other perennials, not so much do to heat, but more that it was a bit dry. They looked lush & green with many buds, then when it became their time to shine…poof they dried up, not a bloom in sight. My plant guy/landscaper by trade, who helped pick & plant, pretty much said I babied them & that unless extremely hot & dry, they need to fend for themselves. He chose the perennials for low maintenance & all summer color. As bad as they looked I did leave them "was so tempted to just cut them down early", they did bounce back a bit, but lesson learned for next year. As for the Owls….I love them!!! I decorate in a woodland theme from fall thru Christmas & all of winter, this way I can have/leave some cute things up to spruce up the house in the winter months. (I have log home out in the woods dreams one day too) Was so excited when that became the theme last year for a few stores. I wish your church ladies lived closer to
    me… 🙂

  5. Thanks for the mum tips! I went out of town for 4 days and lost mine. I think I was losing them before I left because I wasn't watering them properly. I bought one more so I will make sure to water the soil and not the flowers!

  7. The wood would be fab. Thanx for the tip on the mums. My giant mum is wilting but I am impressed that I have kept it alive for this long!;) Can't wait to start decking the halls.

  8. I never knew that trick about watering mums. That explains why mine never looked good for long! Love the little owls you'll be using for Christmas.
