Repurposing last years holiday decorations

Last year I made these stars that we strung with lights and hung outside during the holidays . They were beautiful and so magical to look at. You can get the full tutorial on how to make them here.

This year I used them differently on the house and had a few left over so I decided to repurpose it and make a live wreath for the screen porch. You can see my festive porch here.

This was such an easy and no cost project.  After taking the lights off I gave the star a quick coat of spray paint. Once it was dry, I wrapped the star with cedar securing it with floral wire. I used green wire to blend in with the greenery.  The cedar was from the property.

Creating a live cedar wreath

Although pretty straight forward, I put together a few pictures to show you the process to create a live cedar star wreath.

The key is bunching your greenery and securing it tightly around your frame. When you are finished, snip off any stragglers. You can add more greenery if you want but I like the natural almost sparse look of the wreath. Remember to mist it every day with some water so that it will last throughout the holidays.
