Who knew that my brand new yard sale Moscow mules and dollar spot pumpkins could look so amazing for my Cooper and plaid inspired Thanksgiving table. For that I am thankful along with every single thing in my life…. and then some.
This year I wanted to create a Thanksgiving table that was casual and warm with a bit of metallic…queue the copper Moscow mule cups.  I love the way the light shines on the copper. Would you believe I picked 6 of these up, brand new at a garage sale a few months back….and they were free!  The stars were aligned that day since things like this NEVER happen.  The seller just had a few things to get rid. She didn’t feel like standing outside, so she put a FREE sign a box with the remaining items and these guys were in it. My friend knew the seller and I had her go back and ask her to double check….free…really?
Copper and Plaid Inspired Thanksgiving Table
For my copper and plaid inspired Thanksgiving table, I decided to throw a little plaid, brown and amber color on the table to contrast with my white plates. The table runner is actually some reversible place mats that I placed together going the width of the table.  The sweet little plaid pumpkins were in the Dollar Spot at Target and were a good complement to the copper and browns on the table. Besides they are so cute!
I picked a magnolia bloom that was white when I put it in the copper mug and when I got around to taking pictures, the bloom had actually turned a coppery color as well. In addition to the greenery of the magnolia, I added some dried natural wheat grass to some amber colored vases. Although I didn’t want a lot of distraction on the table, I like that the wheat grass adds some visual height without being too high and crowding the table.
I think the most important element to styling any table is to let the table to reflect who you are. Setting a table that you are comfortable with, whether it’s thrown together or a well thought out design, will resonate with your guests and set the whole tone for your dinner event. Don’t you think? I hope my copper and plaid inspired Thanksgiving table may inspire you when setting your own table this year.

Laura, what a beautiful combination of the copper and plaid! I must say that it must be so wonderful to sit and enjoy a meal with family and friends surrounded by the beauty of the room and that amazing fireplace! And I think I will take heed to the sign and “Stay Awhile”
Great score on the copper mugs! I love those! I am also using copper this fall, paired with navy blue and turquoise with a shot or two of dusty rosie pumpkin color! I love the red teapot in the kitchen section of French Garden House!! Can’t wait for the rest of the week!!
Pretty copper and plaids. Lucky you to find the mugs at a yard sale. I haven’t bought any yet because to buy several the price gets up there. Love when I find props in the Target dollar bins.
Beautiful! I love the copper cups ♥
i love this mix, laura! it’s so warm and inviting and perfect for fall.
Laura, what a gorgeous table. Who wouldn’t love to enjoy a meal at your beautiful table, and in your room, stunning. Warm, welcoming and elegant, I can tell that you love your home and creating a haven for your family and friends. Your large “stay awhile” spells it out. The copper and rich earth tones make this table a stand out. Thank you for the beautiful inspiration!
Love. Love. Love. I need a garage sale score! Have a great week! another laura
Laura, I just love the warm tones and welcoming feel of your lovely tablescape! I’ve been crushing on copper for some time and it works so well with all of your other components, from the plaid pumpkins (my fave!) to the magnolia and wheatgrass. Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving!!
The soft glow of copper brings back memories of polishing my mom’s copper pots and pans. Beautiful table. Love the red tartan flatware at French garden house.
I will have to get your tips so eventually I can do these cups. Have a great day and thank you for your sweet comment.
A dollar never looked so good as the plaid pumpkin on your stunning table! Nice scores all the way around Laura. Gorgeous!!

I felt warm and right at home reading your post. That is quite a story about the copper mugs. You styled your table perfectly with them and achieved such a warm inviting table with the pretty wheat in copper vases, plaid pumpkins and your lovely room decor.

Thanks for sharing the link to the French country website . I love the gingham plates (I love any thing gingham but black is my very favorite for the house ) I also can’t get enough porcelain numbers and letters and this site has some really nice ones.
Your table is so warm and inviting…..I’d love to stay awhile ! What a great sign for the dining room.
Your table makes me want to be sitting with you… I have the mugs so you inspired me!! Glad I went over to French garden house because I have a collection of salt dishes and hers with the terriers are something I’ve never seen! Beautiful! They were 1920’s Art Deco by Heinrich Hoffman. Love all the giveaway stuff especiallly the place mats thanks for sharing.
Have a blessed day,
In looking through the frenchkitchen website, I decided my favorite thing is the red and white checked enamel coffee pot. I can see that setting on my table or stove waiting for dessert with my guests – filled to the brim with a nice aromatic fresh-brewed coffee. Uuummmmmm, I can smell it now as I slice that homemade German Chocolate Cake. I can hardly wait for the first sip!
I love copper, too, and currently have an oblong copper planter with Indian corn stacked it in, plus a copper pitcher with a doily hangingover the edge and a teal pumpkin setting on top, as well as a copper cuspidor filled with yarn balls. I also have a copper bowl sitting in the living room with a satin pumpkin plopped on top of it. Like you, I decided the copper accents would beautifully reflect and complement the colors of autumn. I love your Moscow mule mugs – do you use them for serving beverages? I know they are very popular now.
The little plaid pumpkins are adorable. I may have to make some of them!
Laura, I love your table, especially those cute little pumpkins – hopefully still at Target. I would love anything ironstone from the French Garden House site.
You had me at Plaid & Copper! I’m a sucker for both. It’s gorgeous, and I love those little pumpkins! Everything looks picture perfect…the stone fireplace, the table & chairs…it’s beautiful, Laura! A Thanksgiving to remember:)
