When we did our guest bath refresh a few years ago we installed a wall mounted faucet. We were tight on counter space so it seemed like the best option. This was the first time I had used a wall mounted faucet and loved the way it looked. Keep it mind we also did a tongue and groove wall, and never thought about having any issues with the faucet down the road.

Until of course the faucet started to leak and we had to replace it! Rather then rip all the trim and wood off the wall we did come up with another solution that I will share in a future post. It involved creating a small access panel in the wall if we need to make any other adjustments to the faucet.

For now, I wanted to review the pros and cons of wall mounted faucets so you won’t have to scramble for a plan should the faucet need replacement. For the record, I love our wall mounted faucet and would certainly consider another for our home.
Pros of Wall-Mounted Faucets
1. Sleek & Stylish Aesthetic
One of the biggest draws of wall-mounted faucets is their clean, modern appearance. Because they’re mounted on the wall, they create an open and uncluttered look that enhances both contemporary and classic designs.
2. Easier Countertop Cleaning
Since the faucet isn’t attached to the sink or countertop, there’s no base to collect grime and water spots. This makes cleaning easier, especially in busy kitchens or high-use bathrooms.
3. More Sink Space
This was actually the biggest benefit for us. Wall-mounted faucets free up counter space, allowing for a larger sink. This is particularly beneficial for smaller bathrooms like ours where we don’t have a lot of counter space.
4. Adjustable Installation Height
Unlike deck-mounted faucets, wall-mounted options give you more control over the spout height. This can be helpful when accommodating deeper sinks.
Cons of Wall-Mounted Faucets
1. More Complex Installation
Because these faucets require plumbing inside the wall, installation can be more challenging and expensive, especially if retrofitting into an existing setup. You may need a professional plumber to ensure proper placement to avoid any mistakes.
2. Potential for Hidden Leaks
This was the most important con for us and something we had not thought about before installation. Although our leak was not inside the wall but with the faucet itself, leaks may go unnoticed until they cause damage. Luckily our issue was just a constant drip
3. Limited Faucet Options
While wall-mounted faucets are becoming more popular, I have found there are fewer styles and finish options compared to traditional faucet models. I suspect that will change each year with newer options being introduced.
4. Precise Placement Required
Since the faucet is fixed to the wall, positioning must be precise to ensure water flows properly into the sink. Incorrect placement can lead to splashing or awkward usability, making professional installation even more critical.

Is a Wall-Mounted Faucet Right for You?
If you love the idea of a sleek, space-saving design and don’t mind the extra effort in installation, a wall-mounted faucet could be a great choice. However, if you’re looking for an easy upgrade or have concerns about hidden plumbing, a traditional counter mounted faucet may be the better option.
I hope these wall mounted faucet pros and cons help if you are trying to decide on what option for your own home. Do you have a wall-mounted faucet in your home? Let me know in the comments.
