Weekend Hangout at Duke Manor Farm Vol 35

Welcome to the Weekend Hangout at Duke Manor Farm Vol 35! Let’s hangout to talk about life, new projects and the one thing I will think twice about doing the next time.

I am that friend that even if I don’t have a whole lot to say I’m still gonna reach out and say hello….hello! I realize it’s been a minute since we have hung out, and while I don’t have anything of epic proportion to share, I still wanted to be that friend, reach out and share the little things going on at Duke Manor Farm.

Life

Sadly we lost my FIL earlier this month. My husband arrived in Dallas at 11:00am and he passed peacefully at 2:00pm. We know he is rejoicing in his healed body in Heaven.

We welcomed 3 new baby kids to the farm this month. Two earlier in the month and one last week. Baby goats sure are the cutest but let me tell ya, they waste no time getting into trouble. Even when you think your fencing is solid, they find a way to get out of the littlest crack. Luckily they always find their way back to mama.

Projects

For whatever reason I haven’t painted the ceiling white in the breezeway yet. We have had a few gloomy days when I was able to paint but I have this thing where I don’t like to paint if it’s not sunny out. I ordered some new a/c vent covers that I think will get my mojo going. I know, strange but I am excited to get rid of all the old vent covers in the house.

So while I am waiting to finish up that space, I naturally started a new project. Honestly this one was a long time coming. I am painting my kitchen island, butlers pantry and cabinets in the same color as the breezeway, Thunderous from SW. I actually painted the backside of our kitchen island (I showed it here) and fireplace mantel maybe 2 years ago to see if I liked the color. Well, I like the color. 🙂

Think again before doing this

Even though I love the look, I’m not sure I would ever install a wall mounted faucet again. I’ll be sharing more details on what we did in our guest bathroom so we didn’t have to totally remove the entire wall of wood planks. For now, my advice if you are installing wall mount faucet, figure out a plan should it need to be replaced. I never even thought about this when we originally put it in.

Other randomness

  • My guys fish all year long and we have tested them all. These by far are the best body and hand warmers.
  • Another update I am doing in the house, is to replace all the outlet covers. I am using these in decorator white.
  • Great study bible that my kids use.
  • I am a huge fan but I am kind of disappointed in Season 4 of Sweet Magnolias. I stopped at episode 1 and have no interest continuing. Have you watched it yet?
  • We just replaced the boys exhaust fan in their bathroom with this one. Its super quite and does the job.

Well that’s all I got! I hope you enjoy your weekend.

Big hugs,
