Weekend Hangout at Duke Manor Farm Vol 34

In this week’s hangout at Duke Manor Farm my newest project, we have a new member of the family, a cheesecake you have to try and it’s looking Fallish around the property.

Weekend Hangout at Duke Manor Farm

Is anyone else dreading the upcoming time change? I find myself getting all settled in for the evening by 7pm lately. Not a fan at all of the shorter days. On the bright side though, it is beginning to look like Fall around North East Georgia. Peak color (so they say) is suppose to be this weekend. Get out early to see the spectacular color…. before it gets too dark.

Family updates

If you follow me on Instagram (and you really should) you probably saw that we have a new member of the family, Precious. She was my mom’s dog but lately it has been a bit tough for my mom to care for her. We brought her to Georgia over the summer and so far she has wasted no time getting acclimated to the entire family (including our other fury friends). Check out this post on how we introduce new animals to each other on the farm.

My latest project around the house

One goal I have for this year is to go room by room in the house and complete any outstanding tasks that are staring me in the face. Think replace light switch covers, touch up paint etc. Last week I wanted to do a touch up in my son’s bedroom on the walls. Well, that sorta morphed into a bigger project like repaint the room and replace the furniture. Although my objective went down a completely different path, I can’t say that I am upset about it. Let’s hope each room doesn’t turn into a bigger project. I can’t wait to share the space with you. I hope to finish up this week.

In the kitchen

Lily and I have had so much fun trying out some new recipes lately. Our most recent was a turtle cheesecake, which was so delicious. The reason I love cheesecake is a little slice goes a long way and you can make so many different varieties. If you love cheesecake like I do, you will want to give this recipe a try. Other randomness

  • As much as I love a live tree ( that’s all my kids have ever known) I’m seriously thinking about changing the tradition of a live tree and buying this faux one. Nowadays, real trees seem like such a waste of money….although the goats love them! Check our my favorite trees I have decorated here.
  • Speaking of the holidays, I am planning my outdoor lighting situation and just ordered more of these outdoor lights. You can see some of what I have done in previous years with my lights here.
  • Are you a Beetle Juice fan? Never saw the original movie so I don’t understand the hype, but may have to see it now.
  • Here’s a sneak peek at the new bed I got my son. I got a full size in the Dark Gray Linen. Can’t beat the price!
  • I have recently started to add this to my morning protein smoothies for more energy.
  • Recently watched Woman of the Hour on Netflix (one morning at 3am when I couldn’t sleep). It was decent enough to recommend….. but not at 3am.

Thanks for stopping by another Weekend Hangout at Duke Manor Farm! If you missed last weeks hangout you can see it here.

  1. That little mutt doesn’t look happy at all, by the looks of things it appears that the other pets in the house haven’t been very nice or welcoming.

  2. Precious looks like it misses your mom. How old is Precious? It’s sad when you have to separate long time soul mates. Faux trees are the way to decorate. Real trees are costly and dry out quick.
