Weekend Hangout at Duke Manor Farm

I’m not gonna lie it’s been difficult to share all the ‘good stuff’ when so much devastation is happening around us. Thankfully we only experienced heavy wind and rain from Storm Helene here in North Georgia. My heart breaks when I see communities to the north and south totally wiped out. Please continue to keep those families and communities in your thoughts and prayers.

Family Stuff

I was so blessed to head down to South Florida last week to celebrate my mom’s 80th birthday. My mom is a true fighter having experienced breast, lung and skin cancer. We often say she is similar to a cat and has 9 lives. The only gift she requested was to be surrounded by her family to celebrate this milestone.

Catching Up

While in S. Florida I was able to meet up with a friend of 44 years. You can always tell a true friend when you haven’t seen them for years and you can pick right back up where you left off. I truly value the gift of friendship. I would encourage you to phone a friend today, one you have or haven’t seen in a while. It’s so good for the soul.

The kids

24 hours after the storm rolled through, I hosted Homecoming pictures and dinner in the backyard. You can see the last homecoming dinner I hosted here. Despite the anxiety levels (if the dinner was even going to happen since we had no power the day before), the event was just magical. My only goal was to create memories for my kids and their amazing friend group. Mission accomplished.

Project Update

While I was working on the ‘cat’ deck, I was simultaneously working on a garage refresh. I often wonder why in the world I do that to myself. Anyhoo, I am happy to report that the garage project is just about finished. We still have to paint the floor and replace a door coming into the house, but at least for now it is freshly painted and not quite the eyesore for me or my guests.

Other randomness

  • TMI but my dentist said I am brushing my teeth way too hard and suggested an electric toothbrush, so I bought this one with a pressure sensor. Can’t beat the price.
  • I finally fell for the Temu ads and bought a few things. Microfiber towels and some faux Pampas grass. I was actually pleasantly pleased with the merch.
  • Great quote- You can’t start the the next chapter of your life, if you keep rereading the last one. Time to turn the page.
  • I love velvet pillows in rich autumn colors. I picked up a few of these for less than $10.00
  • I’m going to start making bows with this method.
  • Watched The Perfect Couple…. you gotta watch it. Next up, Nobody Wants This. I heard it’s excellent.

Cheers to an amazing October!
