Weekend Hangout

The good and the bad from the week

We have just returned from a fantastic week down at Cape San Blas, Florida. The gulf is on one side and the bay on the other. This was our second year traveling there and we absolutely love it. I’ll gather all my thoughts and photos about the area and share in a future blog post.

Although the week at the beach was delightful, the encounter with the deer on the way home….not so much. My hubby was driving my car and unfortunately hit a deer on a dark two lane road just as he got into Georgia. The good news it, nobody was hurt. Bad news is, car headed to the repair shop on Monday…for who knows how long.

Out in the Garden

I don’t know what’s worse this season…..the deer or the heat. To combat the deer- I just ordered this stuff that I have seen a lot of people use. I am hoping it does the trick. For the last several weeks I have tied fishing line around the perimeter of the garden. The deer get spooked when they touch it. What’s your secret to keeping the critters out of your garden?

To combat the excessive heat until I get drip hose installed, I’m using this faucet timer. Its been a life saver lately since we have had very little rain. It’s easy to program and so far it’s done it’s job.

Other Randomness from the week

  • I just finished America’s Sweethearts on Netflix. If you were ever a cheerleader, you will find it interesting.
  • This cover up was a win this week at the beach. It matched the bathing suit that I shared here. I love that suit so much and it’s so flattering.
  • If you are looking for something fun to do with teenagers on vacation do a scavenger hunt. My hubby and I went out and photographed 20 spot/things around the community we were staying in. The winner had to find all 20 spots in the fastest time. The kids and their friends loved it, especially the cash prizes.
  • This cobbler recipe has been a summertime favorite for years and still going strong. We are able to use the peaches that we canned last season.
  • I about stroked when I got the estimate on adding two more drivers to our insurance policy. Good thing I went on vacation days later. Seriously!
  • Looking for some 4th of July décor and snack ideas for next week. Check this post out.
