Weekend Hangout #19

All the latest randomness from the week at Duke Manor Farm including the finished media room project, and more randomness from the week.

Hello and Happy Summer! Welcome to this week’s Duke Manor Farm Hangout. It’s been a delightful few weeks around Duke Manor Farm. My kids have been on summer break for a month now. We are trying to mix in a good balance between doing stuff and doing nothing at all. So far so good.

Updates to the outdoor firepit area

For Mother’s Day, my gift was five new Adirondack chairs…that we all put together, grumpy teenager and all. Putting them together was so simple and I love how they look around our outdoor firepit. To provide additional protection to the wood I applied an outdoor stain. I topped them with these pretty pillows that I found at Lowe’s.

Garden Talk

Little Bambi and her extended family have been enjoying our garden this season. Although our garden is fenced (apparently not high enough) they have been nibbling on the strawberries. I had my son put this contraption together to deter them. He built a frame with some 2×4’s and wrapped it with some pasture fencing. Something tells me they will still attempt to get their nose in there and eat away.

Finished Media Room

Popcorn anyone? Well, it only took way too long, but our media room is finally finished. We absolutely love how it turned out. We would have been finished a few weeks ago but decided to upgrade the 20-year-old red chairs I had in here for new powered recliners…and they are so nice! I will share a full reveal later on the blog.

Other Randomness

• We welcomed a new buck and 7 new chicks to the farm this month. Don’t forget to follow my Instagram page for farm updates.
• I have been using this all-in-one green powder for the last month. Wasn’t expecting this benefit but my fingernails have never been longer and stronger.
• We are headed to Cape San Blas this summer. Never been. Got any good restaurants or places to see recommendations?
• Slathering this on before I show up on the beach.
• I am not much of a bike rider or tennis player, but found the Tour de France and Break Point on netfix fascinating.
• This is the best, and easiest summer treat. You’re welcome!
