10 Easy holiday decorating tips
Hello, it’s me! I was wondering if after all these weeks you’d like to meet,
To go over everything that’s happening over here at Duke Manor Farm? I love that song from Adele with my own twist.
Weekend Hangout at Duke Manor Farm
I got started on wrapping my gifts this weekend. When the kids get older it’s a lot easier to manage this process throughout the month. The best wrapping paper EVER is from Hobby Lobby. It’s thick, it has the lines on the backside so I can cut in a straight line, and it is super affordable.
No more plug in plug out! I finally am using wireless remote controls for all my trees, mantel and outdoor lighting. With a tap of a button lights can go on and off. Game changer for holiday lights.
Randomness for the Weekend
- That’s a wrap for the fall color around here. It was beautiful while it lasted. We had a storm this week that took down a lot of the leaves that were still boasting amazing autumn color. Now it’s time to get the blower out.
- Would you look at the size of that fish! Too bad it was the wrong one. My son participates in Bass Fishing tournaments and this was a Striper. Although this 10lb fish didn’t count, he did finish the tournament (out of 183 boats) in 6th place. Interesting enough, I am learning so much about this sport that I never knew. #fishingmom
- It’s that time of the month…for writing out the Christmas cards. Torturing the kids to get a picture for the card is something that I love to do each year…not. Although this isn’t a sponsored shoutout, I love getting my cards from Shutterfly. I have been using them for years. The selection is amazing, the process is easy and my cards get shipped super quick. You can see some of my holiday card tips here.
- Would you look at me now! Last year after my hip surgery a friend brought over a “Christmas cactus” plant. For years I thought the plant was seasonal. Guess what…I was wrong. This is by far the easiest plant to maintain. Some water, some light and beautiful blooms in December. You can get more details and how to care for your Christmas Cactus here.
I do plan on doing another blog post about recovering from hip replacement and how I am doing a year later, but until then….best decision of my life. I only wish I had pursued it sooner so I wouldn’t have lived with pain as long as I did.
- Today I have a wild hair for a project so I may venture out to pick up some paint and paint my office. It’s been needing a wall refresh for a bit now. This is the last time it was clean enough for pictures. Well, I’ve decided to go dark and moody. I will be keeping the wallpaper, and painting everything that is white. I’ll share my progress as I go.
Kids are having a ‘cookie bake-off’ at the house this afternoon so while I am painting, and writing out Christmas cards they will be having fun in the kitchen baking…all 12 of them! Lord help me. 🙂
Have a wonderful day!
