Weekend Hangout at Duke Manor Farm
Happy Sunday! I hope last week was good for you and the upcoming week even better! I still haven’t adjusted to losing an hour of daylight. Have you? Totally not a fan. Please tell me I am not the only one in my jammies when 6:00 pm rolls around.
Yesterday afternoon I decided to put up the tree in the Living Room. I decided to throw some plum pillows into the room and use white and silver ornaments for the tree. I did order some gray velvet ribbon for the tree that should come today so I will try to finish up this tree.
Lily had full decision-making on the holiday decorating for the main areas in the house. She chose red, green, and white. SHe is my traditional gal at heart so it doesn’t surprise me. Although we don’t get our ‘family’ tree until the week of Thanksgiving, she wants to start decorating today.
Randomness for the weekend
- Totally a mom moment here (thank you in advance) but Jacob placed 7th out of 179 boats last weekend in a high school bass tournament. This kid and his partner are so committed to their sport. I love that the high schools in the state of Georgia have recognized fishing as a legit high school sport for these kids.
- Lily wrapped up her cross-country season at the state meet last weekend in Carrollton. I am proud of the season that she and her team had. They won the region for the area. She is transitioning over to track which officially starts in January (but is training now), will continue to run distance, and wants to try hurdles this year. Every time I think of jumping a hurdle, I see myself face-planting….oof.
- We are in full-blown (no pun intended) leave-blowing duty around here. Safe to say we have more than a few leaves to blow off during the fall season. We recently got a new Ryobi blower that helps to get the job done. I love it because it’s easy to start and cart around. Our old blower was a backpack style and heavy, so not too sad that it crapped out. In case you are wondering, we do not cover our pool in the off-season. After all the leaves have fallen it stays pretty clean and clear with minimal maintenance.
Thanksgiving ideas
We are hosting some friends for Thanksgiving this year and I am so excited. It has been a while since we hosted Thanksgiving dinner at the house. Usually, it’s a quiet day with just my family but Lily asked if her bestie and her family (who also happens to be one of my besties too) can join us this year. Luckily she is a no-fuss gal like myself so we will just focus on good conversation, good fun, and having a good time with dear friends.

If you have kids you can totally get this. How many of you still see the kids walking in from school during Thanksgiving looking like this?
Excuse me while I get a tissue.
Have a great week ahead!

You had me at hello with the Jammie’s and then again at goodbye with those turkey headbands, lol. I’ll join you with the Kleenex. I so remember and think I might of saved a few of those with my two now adult children when they made their’s in school. Love the view with the pool and keep on celebrating those accomplishments of yours. I would be so proud too…
