Simple Fall Floral Arrangement
Simple Fall Floral Arrangement uses a combination of fresh and dried flowers and so easy to assemble in 5 steps. Perfect for your fall or Thanksgiving table and home.
I’ll find any excuse to create beautiful floral arrangements and this Fall floral arrangement that I made for the kid’s homecoming dinner in October is no exception. The autumn colors, the organic and natural vibe, and the fact that the arrangement is still going strong weeks later have me all in for creating these types of arrangements.
Simple Fall Floral Arrangement
Although not an expert in floral design, just an expert with my own creations, I always use a few basic tips when putting an arrangement together.
Basic Tips for your arrangement
My tips for creating beautiful and long last arrangements are all in the flower choice and including something interesting in the design.
- Always create a base for your arrangements with greenery that will last even if the flowers won’t. For this arrangement, I used cut magnolias from my trees that will last several weeks (if not longer) when placed in water. I love how your get such beautiful copper color on one side and green on the other with Magnolia leaves.
- Try to include flowers that are known to be long-lasting. I included a few stems of Chrysanthemums in this arrangement. These flowers will last forever and are the least expensive of most flowers available this time of the year.
- Use a combination of fresh, faux, and dried florals in your arrangements. If you can’t find fresh flowers or greenery for your design, look for faux or dried flower alternatives. Although I didn’t use any faux in this arrangement I did in this one and you can hardly tell which is the real thing. Can you?
- Include something interesting in your arrangements besides flowers. I love how the small pepper stems give this arrangement a more creative and memorable look. Feathers are another favorite item to use.
How to create this arrangement
With 4-5 items, a clear glass vase filled with water, and my small garden shears I created this arrangement in about 5 minutes. I put together a step-by-step visual guide to show you just how easy it really is.
Instructions
Fill a clean vase with water 1/2 way
Start by creating a full base of greenery in your vase. I used 4 clippings of magnolia. Cut any greenery that will be submerged in water.
Add your floral to the center of the arrangement. Cut these so they are taller than your base.
Add your dried floral. Cut these so they are taller than the flowers. You will need 3-4 stems.
Place floral greens for additional height and color in any of the gaps in the arrangement.
Use pepper stems ( you can grow them in the garden or find them in floral departments) and insert a few stems.
To maintain the beauty of a fresh arrangement longer, change out the water every few days.
I hope this arrangement inspires you to make something beautiful. Got any questions, let me know in the comments or send me an email.
