Fall Family Room using Rust and Slate Blue
My Fall family room using rust and slate blue. Such a pretty color combination for the Fall and really anytime of the year.
It is the most ‘almost perfect’ fall day outside today even though it’s raining. The ‘stay on the couch while the laundry piles up’ kind of day. Do you know what I’m talking about?
The colors have quickly changed to beautiful orange, yellow and red hues and I wish the leaves would stay on the trees a bit longer. We are supposed to be in peak color next weekend here in North Georgia. And while the leaves are falling outside, I’ve got my favorite pop of autumn color inside.
Fall Family Room
My fall decor in the family room this year consisted of adding a few rust pillows and throws to my already established color palette. The combination of the rust with the slate blue pillows I already have in my family room has me swooning over these colors together.
Over the years I have learned that it really doesn’t take much effort to change things up in a space when new seasons roll around. I find introducing pillows in seasonal colors, throws, and candles helps to tie it all together for any season of the year, especially Fall and Winter.
My obsession with rust in my decor began last fall and when I also used it during Christmas and the winter months. I love how rust offers a pop of color without taking over the other colors in the room.
Just for grin’s sake this is how the room looked about 15 years ago and then about 7? years ago when we got the sectional.
and where we are today. You can see other looks this room has worn during the last 20 years here. If you are new here or don’t know the back story, this room was originally designed and built to be a screen porch until we decided to make it a seasonal room and then our family room.
So as I sit on the couch when I should be doing other things, I am thinking about how to use this color combination on this year’s Christmas tree again…but we won’t go there quite yet.
