Weekend Hangout at Duke Manor Farm #7
Hello and happy Sunday and welcome to the weekend hangout at Duke Manor Farm. I sit here in disbelief that my kids go back to school in two weeks. Yes, July 29th. I know…right. They got out the 3rd week of May. We have thoroughly enjoyed our summer break so getting back into school mode is not going to be so fun.
Where we’ve been this summer
While we were attending the wedding of my niece in Pell City Alabama, we tacked on a few extra days to hang out at Logan Martin Lake just outside of Talladega and 45 mins from Birmingham. It was such a beautiful and quiet lake. We stayed at the cutest cottage right on the water and had so much fun. The fact that the rental had no TV or internet was a plus. I took these photos but you can see the listing on VRBO. It was SO reasonably priced, had everything we needed including water toys, and we would definitely stay there again.
Earlier this summer the kids and I headed south to visit my mom and my brother and sisters in S.Florida. The high gas prices didn’t deter us from making the 10-hour drive. Besides my mom lives across the street from the beach so visiting family has its perks.
Projects around Duke Manor Farm
I have honestly been taking it easy this summer and have no regrets about not starting or finishing my project list. Anything I work on has to fit into the summer schedule or in my summer mojo. Besides, it’s been pretty hot to do anything outside.
The first project that I will finish up when the kids go back to school is the workout space. There’s not a whole lot left to do just the finishing touches. You can see the plan and where I started the workout room here.
The other day when it did cool down to the 80’s, I applied a gloss sealer to my stone porch. I love that glossy almost wet look on the porch. This is something that I do every year and you can see all the details in this post.
What I am watching/reading
I have been binging Call the Midwife on Netflix….so good. Set in the 1950’s a series about midwives in a London community working alongside a group of nuns. Have you seen it?
I heard so much about We Were Liars, that I got a copy and just started it. Have you read it?
Lily and I just finished Persuasion on Netflix. If you are into Jane Austen you will love it. I just ordered Lily the book.
What I bought recently
Clarifying shampoo to take the green tint out of Lily’s blonde hair
A weather station for hubby’s birthday
To reduce the inflammation in my hands I have been taking Turmeric and Ginger with peach flavor gummies. It has been just shy of 30 days of taking them daily and I can honestly see a difference. I’m a believer.
I wore these shoes to the wedding. Super cute espadrille wedges. They can be dressed up or dressed down. I got the blue and white stripe dress here four years ago for my brother in laws birthday party. So glad I held onto it and could still wear it to the wedding.
Thanks for joining me for another weekly hangout at Duke Manor Farm. I’m going to enjoy these last two weeks with the kids but I’ll be back next week for another weekend hangout.

Have a wonderful Sunday!
