It’s time to get ready for school and start picking up the essentials like backpacks. My back to school backpacks for any budget includes a few of my favorites for any age.

It’s inevitable. Back to school will be here before you know it. My kids go back to school on Friday so I’m pretty much done getting them ready. They are all in high school now ( twins are freshmen and the oldest is a junior). I will say back-to-school shopping for supplies and clothing is a lot different than when they were younger. It’s not like the ‘event’ it once was, and I kinda miss that.

With the changes in locker use at some schools (mine included), I find that the backpack is probably the most important essential in our back-to-school shopping. Having plenty of room for books/laptop along with comfort (as they lug that thing around all day) are key decisions for me.

This backpack comes with a few extra features. It has a USB port, is waterproof, and can fit a 15.6 notebook. It comes in many colors and is available in 17 inches as well.

Lightweight backpack that comes in many colors and is easy to clean, water-resistant, and stain-resistant. It’s not as wide so perfect if you are not lugging around a ton of wide books and notebooks.

Backpacks more than $30

We ordered my son’s this NIKE Brasilia XLarge Backpack. He had it previously in a different color and loves it. The only reason we got a new one is that my husband started using it as a fishing backpack over the summer and loved it as well. A nice feature is that it has a separate sleeve for a laptop and the water bottle fits without a problem.

You can’t go wrong with this classic backpack. I’ve had a few Jansport backpacks in my day and they are made to last. The price point varies and this one is right in the middle.

Another popular choice for quality is North Face. Women’s Jester School Laptop Backpack has a padded laptop sleeve, can stand on its own, and won’t tip when loading. The top handle makes it easy to grab.

I love this Kenneth Cole bookbag but I wish it came in other colors. The women’s Chelsea features a stylish chevron quilted water-resistant exterior with gold-plated zippers. Can handle laptops up to 15″. Isn’t it pretty?
