Tuesday Catch-Up around Duke Manor Farm

Tuesday Catch-Up around Duke Manor Farm including the newest additions around the farm, the latest projects, and getting ready for Spring.

Getting ready for Spring

I am chomping at the bit for Spring to show up in 20 ish days from now. I may have jumped ahead of myself but couldn’t resist picking up some Kimberly Queen Ferns the other day for the front porch. Not totally convinced that we are destined for Spring temperatures going forward, but Fern plants are always the first thing that helps to usher Winter out the door around here. We have had hard freezes into April so I try not to go nuts with planting anything new until the end of April.

We sat on the front porch over the weekend in 70-degree temps and shorts and it was wonderful. As I rocked away, I thought about putting my list together to get the porch all ready for my favorite season of the year….excluding the yellow pollen. It seems like I’m not the only one waiting for Spring-like days to show up more often. Would you look at that face!

Newest members around the farm

Did you know that the average gestational period for goats can last 150 days so they can have up to two deliveries a year? Neither did I ….before I owned a goat. Oh, the things I am learning 🙂 Guess what, we had three ‘kids’ born a couple of weeks ago. Baby goats are really just the cutest. From the sounds they make to the jumping around they are so fun to watch. We are raising goats to sell, so we are getting our herd in order. The three on the bottom right at the newest members and the mom is the white goat directly above them.

Latest Projects

I have two ‘active’ projects going on right now. One that is taking a bit longer to finish and one that is taking a bit longer to get started.

If you follow me here, you probably saw that I repainted the downstairs Den and Gameroom. As much as I love Iron Ore, I just didn’t love it for those spaces. You can see the before of the den and game room here. Instead, I choose Light French Gray to warm the space up a bit.  On the bottom portion, I went with Pure White from SW. I hope to have this wrapped up before Spring really does show up, so stay tuned for that.

The other project is my master bedroom. Other than moving everything out, moving some scaffolding in and taking down my 20-year-old ceiling fan, this is about as far as I got. I was able to ‘gift’ my furniture to someone a few weeks ago and will be looking for something new. Once I have my design plan all figured out I’ll share that with you.    You can see how my bedroom has evolved over the years here.

Cheers to the week ahead!
