Simple and Delicious Breakfast Idea
Have I got a twist of a breakfast idea for you. It’s a good one and one that I actually can’t take credit for. Thanks to my hubby I am sharing a simple and delicious breakfast idea. We are taking the traditional pancake and turning it into a ‘Pan-Cake’.
Welcome to another Cozy Living Series. I am joining my Cozy Living pals who are sharing more creative and inspirational ideas to create a cozy home. All the links will be at the end of this post. Simple and Delicious Breakfast Idea
If you can make a pancake you can make this ‘Pan-Cake’ with just a few extra steps.
Ingredients needed:
Pancake Mix – Mix as directed
Maple Syrup
Raw Brown Sugar – this adds the slight crunch on the top
What you do:
Grease a round cake pan and pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
Make your pancake batter per the instructions on your box ( or however you make your pancakes). We don’t really measure when we make pancakes. We just know how much to pour into our mixing bowl. 🙂 This is approx 2 cups of pancake mix and 1 1/2 cups of water.
Pour into a greased cake pan and smooth out so it reaches all sides of the pan.
Pour a generous amount of syrup onto the cake in a circular fashion….these are pancakes after all.
Bake for 20 mins at 350 degrees
You can see that the syrup just absorbs into the pancake batter. After 20 mins take out of the oven and drizzle more syrup and sprinkle the brown raw sugar all over the top. Put back in the oven for about 6-8 mins. Just long enough to warm the syrup and meltdown the raw sugar.
Cool for a few mins and serve to your breakfast loving crowd.
Try this instead
Another way we have done this instead of using maple syrup is to mix equal parts cinnamon, brown sugar, and water. Put in the microwave for approx 2-3 mins, until it bubbles. This step is to melt it down. Pour over the top of the pancake mix.
This method is similar to a ‘Lava Pancake’.
If I didn’t know this was pancake batter the first time I ate it, I would have thought it was some sort of coffee cake. It is so good. Here’s another unconventional way we cook pancakes. And I can’t forget my chocolate chip stuffed pancakes here. Can you tell we love pancakes around Duke Manor Farm?
I hope you love this Simple and Delicious Breakfast Idea. Honestly, you can have it any time of the day. Let me know if you make it and what you think.
