The Easy Way to Peel Peaches
The Easy Way to Peel Peaches in 3 simple steps…boil, cool and peel.
This is a bit embarrassing, but in all my years I have never used fresh peaches in a cobbler. I know right? Here I am a Georgia girl with peach trees on her own property, not using fresh peaches for cobbler! For shame, for shame. Redeeming myself today and sharing the easy way to peel peaches….cause I never did that either! You can read all about how to grow your own peach trees here.
Our peach trees were abundant this year. We have two of them that I planted years ago. Between eating them fresh, giving them away and slicing and freezing them I don’t do a lot more with the peaches. Trying to be creative one day, I had the idea to make my favorite cobbler using the peaches. Find my go-to recipe here. This is the embarrassing part, I had to phone a friend to see how to prepare the peaches to use in the cobbler.
I don’t know what was more embarrassing, not knowing, or how easy it was.
How to peel peaches
Start with placing some peaches in boiling water for a few minutes
Next, place the peaches in a bowl with water and ice, and let them sit for a few minutes
Take your peach out of the cold water ( make sure it’s cool enough to handle) and begin peeling away at the skin. Amazingly the skin will come right off the peach.
Slice up the peaches and you are good to go. Sadly I ran out of sugar needed for the cobbler, so I sliced up the peaches and made the kids peach smoothies instead.
Hope you are enjoying the summer season!
Grateful
for fresh fruit trees on the property
Didn’t know about doing that for peaches, but have always done the very same to peel tomatoes!
