Saying goodbye to our original carpeting is not nearly as exciting as getting new waterproof hardwood installed. The entire process from my vision for the space, to picking out my floors and now the demo and install have been nothing short of Amazing!  I wanted to share a big part of the process the demo and installation so you know what to expect if new flooring from Twenty& Oak are in your plans. It’s time to demo

Here are a few tips that you can do to help prep your space prior to the installers showing up.

  • Remove anything on the floors
  • Clear out the floor of closets
  • Remove items from dressers, shelves, and tables so that nothing falls and breaks when furniture is moved.

The guys at Albrights Flooring showed up right on time. The process is a bit different when you are doing a demo and install in a home that is lived in rather than new construction. The guys started by moving all the furniture to one side of the room and removing the carpet and carpet pad. When one side was completed they did the same thing on the other side. Some furniture was removed from the space to make the installation easier. They followed this process in all the rooms.

When the carpet and padding were all removed they scrapped off any glue that was left on the surface followed by a good cleaning to pick up any debris and dust. My video below has more footage of the process and some very willing guys that let me shoot some video while working.

Installation

The installation of my new waterproof hardwood floors took two days ( the demo took one) with a crew of 3-4. Once I decided how I wanted the boards to run they got to work measuring, cutting and installing the boards. Since I have a floating floor the boards lock together for a tight fit. Here is a peek at the hallway and bedroom with the new flooring installed. Ya’ll, I can’t even….. insert very loud squeal

Game Room installation

One of the rooms that took a couple of extra steps prior to the installation of the hardwood was the game room. Since I was laying the wood over my existing tile , Albrights Flooring had to prep the floor by applying a grout like mixture to the joints in the tile. This gave the floor a more stable and smooth foundation to lay the boards on top of. Doing this instead of busting up the tile saved lots of time and money. If you are considering laying hardwood over tile talk to a flooring professional for their recommendation and what will work with your flooring project.

Here’s a few peeks at the finished Game Room

I may be biased but isn’t the color beautiful? I don’t know if its the finish or the fact that’s it waterproof hardwood that I love more. Okay, both.

I’ll be back with some room reveals next week. In the meantime head on over to the Twenty & Oak website to see all of the beautiful flooring options. Who knows, maybe we can squeal together.

Let the Demo and installation begin!
