Duke Manor Farm Notables Vol 6
Duke Manor Farm Notables Vol 6 the latest going on around the house and property since being hunkered down at home.
I’ll start off by addressing the elephant in the room right now…..this time that we are in right now is just weird and strange. Isn’t it? I am trying to create normal as best as I can for my family ( and for me ) but someday’s it’s just tough. I put together a few tips here on how to create a cozy home in crazy times. Maybe some of the tips will help you as well. Something else I am going to do to create normalcy, is get back to a regular blogging schedule, starting with my Duke Manor Farm notables. Here you go….
Duke Manor Farm Notables Vol 6
Super Moon
Did you see the super moon last night? Me and the kids kept on waiting for 10:30 to roll around since that was suppose to be the closest that the moon would be to Earth. This was probably the best image I got since it was so cloudy. Bummer as I was really looking forward to it.
Latest finished project
Trying to incorporate more bronze/gold into the kitchen, I took some metallic bronze spray paint and painted the kitchen stools. I got these stools a while ago and they were starting to look a little spent. The plan is to replace them eventually so I thought a few coats of paint wouldn’t hurt. Truth be told, I was probably just bored and looking for a quick project. 🙂 Not sure about the finish, they may be a bit brighter then what I wanted. I will leave them alone for now…. because I have no more spray paint. Get all the details about the wood and wallpapered wall here.
Lastest project not finished
Since my local Sherwin Williams will do curbside pickup, I ordered some more Iron Ore and started to paint the Family Room. Just call in your order, pay over the phone and when you get to the store they will bring the paint out to you. Initially I was just planning to do the 3 walls but my husband really likes how the ceiling in the screen porch looks (and so do I) so I may do that too. I wanted to add another color to the space because no matter how many coats of white on the walls, it never looks as white as I want. The bead board that I am painting over was originally stained a cherry color. Years later I painted it a creamy color and eventually white a couple of years ago.
I am taking a minute to think about it since it will require setting up the scaffolding and more time….which we certainly have. I’ll let you know how this project is going.
Backyard Projects
We get so much joy spending time outside these days. I am getting the pool area ready and doing some gardening around the pond. Luckily I had bought some plants right before things shut down so I am able to get those in the ground and add some Spring color. I am also moving some shrubs and plants to other areas. My bench and some planters got freshened up with a couple coats of paint as well. ( Misty from SW) Gardening has definitely been a distraction that I look forward to. What daily distractions do you enjoy?
You can see how the backyard pond area has evolved over time here. It’s quite the transformation.
Where I am spending most of my time
The front porch has definitely been my go to spot during the last few weeks. Now that the Georgia pollen has slowed down, things are staying cleaner on the porch and our weather has been gorgeous. I got out the pressure washer and gave everything a good cleaning. You can see some of the ways I clean this area and the pressure washer I use here. It’s been so nice to sit and read or watch the kids out front. I hope you are able to enjoy the outdoors during this time as well.
Stay safe, stay patient and stay home.
Big hugs!
