Duke Manor Farm Notables….Christmas Break
Happy New Year and welcome to the first Duke Manor Farm notables for the year!
The last two weeks of December seem like a complete and utter blur. It seems as though I wasn’t as good as I thought I was and Santa left us with a big bag of nasty colds. Did not even see it coming. Came home Christmas Eve from a weekend in Gatlinburg ( which is where we probably caught the crud) and I felt it coming on when I was getting prepared for the next mornings festivities. Hubby got hit Christmas Day as well, as did some of the kids. We were able to open presents and then back in bed for two weeks. Luckily we rang in the New Year feeling much better.
Creating Memories in Tennessee
We decided with the kids getting older we would start a new tradition and create memories by taking a trip during Christmas break. Since the Smokey Mountains and Gatlinburg are an easy 3 hour drive we headed up there for a few days. My sister and her family were at the lake house so we were able to celebrate Christmas Eve with them before heading back. I’ll be back later to show you a brand new hotel that we stayed at and highly recommend if you are ever in the area. You can see more of our travels to Tennessee here.
I can’t wait to show you the last project of 2019 that I finished
Now that the holiday decorations are put away I am going to take some pictures of the changes that I made to the kitchen eating area and breakfast nook. You may recall I added some wood planks and wall paper to the long wall and added some wall paper to a few other walls. This is the view walking out of the kitchen into the dining area. Love the visual interest ( without being to busy) that the wall paper gives to the open space.
A few new presents under the tree
This is such a beautiful book on entertaining and party ideas. I saw the author on the Today Show one day and loved how creative and inspiring his creations were.
A bag to keep all my gardening tools together….since they always go missing. The bag also included some new tools.
My favorite planner that I use every year.
Some new leggings to get me through the winter season. These feel like butter on your skin. At $12.00 a pair I stocked up and got black, navy and charcoal. They only come in two sizes ( one size and a plus size) which I thought was a little strange and not sure how they would look on me. I ordered the one size and they fit perfect.
How is your new year shaping up? Staying healthy….I hope !
PS- Duke Manor Farm Notables will be published on Saturdays this year so be looking for that in your email.
