My latest obsession…..Peel and Stick Wallpaper
My latest obsession…..Peel and Stick Wallpaper. It is so much easier and cleaner then the traditional pasted papers. See the before and after of my latest project using peel and stick paper.
When I was putting the plans together for the laundry room makeover it included putting this wallpaper on two walls. During my search, I was looking for patterns that I liked rather then peel and stick vs. pasted, in fact didn’t even consider that. I immediately fell for this whimsical owl paper.
Before the Peel and Stick Paper
At the 11th hour I changed gears in the laundry room and didn’t end up using it. It was a pattern that would work in several areas in my house so I gave it a go in the entry to my bedroom. The space lacked interest and was just plain boring so it was a perfect way to take care of my issues. Here’s how the space looked before the owls showed up. See what I mean….much better.
This wasn’t my first wallpaper project. I did Lily’s room, my Dining Room and my office a few years ago and was happy how the rooms turned out. When I created the music room I did take down the wallpaper ( it was peel and stick) . The other two rooms were pasted which is probably why I still love it 🙂
After with the Peek and Stick Wall Paper
Can I tell you , I am obsessed with peek and stick wallpaper. It was so much quicker to apply then the traditional pasted wallpaper. Although you still need to measure and make accurate cuts, not having to use water makes it so cleaner and easier to apply. The only draw back is that there are not as many options as it comes to color and patterns , but I think that will change.

I got these Herons Nest prints at minted a few years ago ( I had them framed) and think they play nicely with the owls in the new paper.
These are the tools that I used when hanging this paper. Nothing fancy and very inexpensive. I would say the most important gadget to have with any wallpaper job is a sharp knife to cut your paper. Dull scissors or knives can potentially tear your paper and you don’t want that. Because of the repeating pattern, this area took me 7 rolls. Each roll is about $22.00. There would be less waste with a pattern that didn’t repeat ( meaning you didn’t have to match up the trees with each piece of wall paper).
Although I can hang both types of paper, my first choice would definitely be the peel and stick. If you are newbie to wallpaper or don’t want to fully commit to a pattern on your wall, peel and stick is definitely worth the consideration.
Have you used peek and stick wall paper? Did you have the same experience that I had?
Hope this information is helpful if you are considering a wall paper project.
grateful
for a happy home

It’s so perfect there! And I like the simple graphic.
It’s interesting, but not overpowering.
Looks pretty dang sensational 🙂

I love the simplicity of it. xo Laura
Looks so good!!
Our daughter is just finishing a complete reno of her powder room. She did everything herself – from assembling a new vanity, installation of vessel sink, plumbing, lighting, toilet – you name it. Instead of removing her ceramic flooring – it was in good shape – she painted it white and did a black stencil and then a sealer. She is a very busy professional, and she and her husband have two very little girls. What a woman! She asked if I could do some research for her on peel and stick wallpaper for one wall. I spent several hours over a couple of days looking at patterns, etc. We are going to her home today, and we can’t wait to see the final product. Your wallpaper is nothing short of stunning.
This looks fantastic Laura. Very whimsical and it brings life to this area.
My husband doesn’t want to try wallpaper. He never gas done it and worries about getting it right. We used to have an amazing guy do our wallpaper but he retired.

It looks amazing , Laura. Such a beautiful transformation ! Happy weekend!!
Love this…and a great push to try it myself. Thanks! 🙂
This is gorgeous! My question, since you have done both types, is it as easy to reposition as traditional wallpaper? I’ve done a bit of wallpapering years ago so I’m interested in doing it in the future. Funny: one time my husband and mother were working together to wallpaper a hallway. They were getting frustrated with the wallpaper coming down just as soon as they would finish a panel. Turns out, they were applying paste to pre-pasted! LOL!
Hi Denise, it is so much easier to reposition the peel and stick as opposed to the traditional wall paper…in my opinion anyways.
Beautiful, I love the print. Question………did you have to sand the walls down for a smooth area to attach the peel and stick?
hi sherry, if there are any raised areas on a wall then they will be seen through the paper.
Normally when I hear “wallpaper” I automatically think “tacky” but I have to say, this wallpaper actually looks great. It’s definitely not like the ugly wallpapers from the 70’s that come to mind when I hear that word, haha.
thanks!
