Laundry Room Update : Walls and Floor

Laundry Room Update : Walls and Floor

Well, we are two weekends into our Laundry Room Update. This weekend it was all about finishing the walls and floor….and that we did. You can catch up on the plan for the space and the last update here.  I must admit, being without a washer and dryer for 6 days sounded amazing….until about the 4th day. We knew we had to kick it in gear and get the room finished.

Where we ended up this weekend

The biggest wins for the week were tiling the floor and putting all the wood up.

The Walls

Initially my plan was to only do two sides ship lap and two sides wallpaper.  I decided to do all the walls the same when we were putting the wood up. I ended up using this wallpaper in another spot….which I love. Primed pine nickel gap ship lap boards is what we used on the walls.   I applied two coats of semi-gloss paint in Behr White after everything was caulked.

The Floor

After the walls were finished,  I was able to get the floor tiled and grouted during the week. I basically followed the same steps that I did for this project. If you are a beginner, these tips will help you get started on your first tile project. My biggest tile tip is to make sure your couple of pieces are straight and even. This will serve as the guide for the rest of your room. I ended up finding a similar tile for about .50 sq foot cheaper from my initial design.

This was the first tile job that I was able to make all the cuts on my own. We don’t do a lot of tiling but when we do this wet saw has always been dependable and will get the job done. When cutting tile you don’t want to forget your safety glasses. I love the way it turned out.

What we have left to do

I need to finish painting the cabinets,  install the new sink and cabinet and secure the butcher block counter top. I plan to get that all done this week. The laundry is waiting.

Thanks for stopping in to see the progress of my Laundry Room Update : Walls and Floor.
