My kids headed back to school last week. This means getting back into the groove with the normal school day routines and some of my yearly school traditions. I wanted to share a back to school idea for you to share with your kids. One tradition that I have been doing since they started kindergarten has been lunch box notes. As the years have passed, the crayon and picture to express my love and thoughts have been replaced with a pen and a piece of paper. This year I even had a request to modify the size of the note from my oldest…it must be a teen boy middle school thing.
Shop Michaels for all your writing needs
As I was stocking up items from the school supply list, I was also stocking up on my own supplies to get me through the year. Luckily I was able to pick up a few school supplies and my favorite writing pens from Pilot Pen at Michaels . Michaels is the perfect stop for the upcoming school year and everyday use to help you get organized while also saving on supplies for home, school, and office. If you are a teacher, you don’t want to pass up the 15% Teacher Discount. That discount is a great way to stock up on classroom supplies and all your writing needs including some pens from Pilot Pen.
Have you tried the G2 Pilot Pen
I have used many pens from Pilot for several years, particularly the G2 . G2® Pens by Pilot Pen writes smoothly, comfortably, and has been proven to last longer than competitive gel ink brands which are all very important if you are a pen user like me. Lately I have been in the variety of color options for the different ways that I use my pens. From lunch notes to journaling, it’s no wonder the G2 Pen is the #1 Selling pen in America (NPD, 2019). See what I mean about color choices.
Include a lunch note this school year
As I mentioned I have been writing lunch notes since Kindergarten. I was not aware how special the notes were to my kids until one day I was cleaning out a pouch that I never open and found all the notes that I had written each day for lunch. Talk about a melt my heart moment. I realize that I needed to continue the tradition for them and for me particularly when my son asked me one morning “Did you pack my lunch note”. So until they tell me to stop ..a lunch note and a piece of my heart will be included everyday with their lunch.
When I get finished packing lunches each day I will take a post it note and write out a sweet little word, message or just a ‘I love you’ and tuck it into their lunch box. The assortment of G2 pen colors gives me pretty pastels for my girl and primary and metallics for my boys. With the G2 Pilot Pen, I can write on any type of paper without a problem.
Try Journaling
Another tradition that I have, not necessarily school related is to journal. Each day when the kids leave the house for school, I pour my hot tea and get my journal out. A few quiet moments allow me to clear my mind and jot down a few thoughts of gratitude and reflection. I recently picked up a new journal while I was at Michaels. Of course I will have some fun using a G2 Pilot Pen in a variety of colors .
I hope this back to school idea for you to share with your kids inspires you this school year. Two simple ideas to help inspire thoughtfulness and love, one for you and one for your kids.
Best of luck for a great school year!
