The Perfect Spa Getaway in Asheville North Carolina
The Perfect Spa Getaway in Asheville North Carolina at the Grove Park Inn
Lucky for me my birthday, anniversary, and mothers day are all within a two-week window. What better excuse than to have the perfect spa getaway in Asheville, North Carolina at the Grove Park Inn.
This is the second time that I have been to this beautiful spa and hotel. I thought I would share some details and a few images that I managed to take during my visit.
The Perfect Spa Getaway in Asheville North Carolina
The Hotel
Not a lot has changed on the exterior The Omni Grove Park Inn since it opened in 1913. I was able to find a picture of the exterior back in the day here.
Here’s a picture of the back of the hotel. A lot of stone on the outside and wood on the interior. The main lobby hosts one of the biggest fireplaces I have ever seen and although it’s not exactly cold outside, it was lovely just sitting there with a cocktail.
Accommodations
The hotel is rich in history and has done a wonderful job preserving its Craftsman-style architecture. The hotel and grounds sit on a hill in a residential neighborhood surrounded by beautiful craftsman-style homes.
During our stay, we booked a premium room in the Vanderbilt wing that overlooked the golf course and mountains. Although it rained most of the stay it was still a pretty view. Although the room was cozy and quiet, you paid a ‘Daily Resort Charge’ which provided internet, in-room coffee and tea, and bottled water. Items that are typically included in most hotels. When all was said and done we paid close to $400 a night once you add the room charge, daily resort charge, and taxes. Not sure this was a $ 400-a-night room but I did get a good night’s sleep. Next time I would probably consider staying at some of the cute B&Bs in Asheville.
The Spa
This is the primary reason for our return to Grove Park Inn…the Spa. It is the ultimate destination for a day (or more) of pampering and total relaxation. It was voted one of the Top Resorts in the U.S for good reason. Not only do they offer every spa treatment you could ever want but Grove Park has the most amazing indoor and outdoor relaxation pools. The spa also has the most amazing eucalyptus-infused steam room. Your spa treatment grants you access to the spa pools and amenities all day. Without a spa treatment, you can buy a day pass if you are staying at the hotel, which in my opinion is totally worth it.
Leave your worries…and your cell phone behind
The Spa is a complete electronics-free environment. So leave your camera, iPad, and phone behind. I managed to smuggle in my phone to take a few pictures because I wanted you to see how beautiful it all was. Secretly I only got 2 pictures….but you get the idea. If it wasn’t to share my experience on the blog, I would have left the phone in the locker. Kinda defeats the purpose of relaxing and being in a serene environment, if one is tethered to a device.
Would you look at all that stone! The Spa underwent a complete renovation a few years ago and everything, including the environment, cleanliness of the spa, and your own personal concierge is top-notch.
The Food
Typically I am not a ‘foodie’ but the food, service, and selection were all magnificent. The price….a little on the high side. Dinner for two at their Sunset Terrace cost us about $150.00 (without gratuity). Lunch at the Edison was about 1/2 of that. Both of the restaurants offered spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. I guess there is a price you pay for great food and amazing views. The hotel has a few restaurants and lounges to eat or drink in, but next time we will venture out to the Asheville area which is just as lovely.
All this to say, I’ll be back even if it’s just to sit here and take this all in.
