Catch up with Duke Manor Farm
Happy May! The weather around here has been perfect and the pollen has settled down . What’s more amazing is that we can actually sit outside without turning yellow. What a beautiful feeling. The pollen here in northeast Ga is pretty bad throughout the month of April and the first couple of weeks of May. Is it bad in your neck of the woods as well?

I got away over the weekend for a combination birthday, anniversary and mothers day celebration with my sister. All of these events are within a two week period. We went to the Grove Park Inn located in Asheville, North Carolina. The relaxation and day at the spa was a totally blissful experience. I will share more about this destination in a later post ….because everyone should go at least once to experience views like this. If you have been, leave me a comment and tell me your thoughts about Grove Park Inn.
New family members
No sooner then I check in to the hotel in Asheville , I get a call that this happened. Yup, Cheeze-it had her babies. This was a planned pregnancy and I am happy that it is a manageable liter. I told Lily one round and one round only. The appointment has been made.
Apparently we have one girl and it’s Lily’s favorite. Since this is the one and only round, the kids are taking their times with the names. I’ll let you know what they come up with.
Preparing the pool area for swim season
Trying to get the backyard ready for swim season. I bought these umbrellas the other day and couldn’t be happier. They will provide the perfect amount of shade around the pool. Deciding on what base to use was a bit of a challenge since I have never had a cantilever style umbrella. These are the bases that I got. FYI, normal market umbrella bases are not strong enough to support the cantilever because of the shape and weight. Something I did not realize until I get the umbrellas. Hopefully I am good for a couple of seasons with these umbrellas and bases. Next time I will share how they look fully opened.
My new Mixer
Gotta love all the benefits of an Echo but not when Alexa tells you of a delivery notification….and it’s your birthday present! How’s that for a surprise! I do love my new Kitchen Aid Mixer that hubby and the kids ‘surprised’ me with. The kids actually used it on my birthday to make a cake. I look forward to using it and whipping up all kinds of goodies. PS. I have used hand mixers for my entire life so this takes my baking to new levels.
Looking for a mom’s day gift. This candle smells AMAZING and so does this one. Got them both for my birthday.
Do you have a mom, sister or friend that likes to read? My pal Kristy just published another amazing read called the Southern side of paradise. Her last two books in the Peachtree Bluffs series were just so amazing and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this one. Her 2nd book Secret to Southern Charm was last summer’s favorite read and I am looking forward to sitting poolside with the latest book. Southern fiction at it’s best. All the books are available on audio, kindle or paperback.
Have a lovely week!

We love the Grove Park Inn and the entire Asheville, NC! When we stayed at the Inn we were in the “Kissinger” room! We have wonderful memories of a fresh trout dinner while looking out the dining room window.
it’s just such a lovely place, so peaceful …and pretty.
How nice to be able to spend a few days with your sister in such a lovely place! I always enjoy getting away with my two sisters for a few days. You will enjoy having those new umbrellas — and that Kitchen Aid mixer. Those little babies are so cute! Have a great week!
You will love your new mixer. Won’t believe how much faster and enjoyable baking becomes.
Loving the kitties.
How fun you went to a beautiful spa with your sister.
Enjoy your week.
