7 Ideas to Create Cozy this Holiday Season
Texture, texture and more texture
Nothing like layering on cozy throws and pillows this holiday season with texture. Mix in furs, velvet’s and chunky wool throws into your existing decor for instant cozy. On this porch I used my existing blue chair cushions and paired them with these ridiculously inexpensive buffalo check pillows ( less then $10 for 2 pillows), my favorite fur pillow and a pretty velvet plum pillow.
Simple seasonal decor
Sometimes you don’t need to cover ever inch of your space with holiday decor to feel a cozy holiday vibe. A simple wreath above the bed and a small tree on the nightstand create a magical cozy spot….without all the fuss.
Light Some Candles
I really should pick up some battery operated candles, but the old school in me still uses good ole waxed candles around here. The light and ambiance that a real candle gives off makes me happy. I put a bunch of my lanterns out and fill them with big pillar candles. Throughout the year I will pick candles up on sale. You can see more of my front porch here.

Breakfast idea
I always like to keep the ingredients of my favorite dishes or deserts on hand during the holiday season….. just in case. Something about a good meal and people sitting around a table that help to create cozy. Stuffed french toast is a crowd favorite at my house any weekend and when I have a people visiting overnight. It looks impressive but is so super simple to make.
Fresh Flowers
I try to place some kind of floral arrangement around the house whether it’s a store bought arrangement or greens that I have cut from the property. A lot of times I start with some good greens ( that will last weeks) and just change the flowers out when needed. Click here to see how easy it was to assemble this 3 step white rose arrangement.
A good hot cocoa
Nothing screams cozy like a delicious cup of hot cocoa. Don’t just stop at the cocoa mix. You go ahead and fill that cup with marshmallows, chips, whipped cream, and peppermint pieces. If you are looking for a wonderful homemade cocoa recipe click here.
Dinner by candlelight
Shut the lights off and have dinner by candlelight or from the twinkling lights of the Christmas lights. You won’t believe how calm and cozy dimming the lights will make you feel….and dinner doesn’t even have to be fancy. Want to see more of this room…click here.
My wish is that even with the seasonal chaos and busyness that some of you will face in the weeks leading up to Christmas, that you take time to be good to yourself. I hope that you found some inspiration in my 7 Ideas to Create Cozy this Holiday Season and will implement one or all seven of them.
