Using the color Gold in your Thanksgiving Tablescape

Using the color Gold in your Thanksgiving Tablescape and a couple budget friendly ideas to use on your own table.

If there is one thing I never get tired of, it’s looking at  tables set for any season or occasion. This week I have been in table nirvana with the 18 other Thanksgiving tablecapes that have been shared, including the beautiful one you just saw at Remodelacasa. If you are visiting from sweet Cristina’s, welcome to Duke Manor Farm. Special thanks to Tammy from Pink Peppermint Design  who organized this Thanksgiving Table Setting Tour. The full line up will be at the end of the post.

Start with an inspiration color or piece

Long before Fall showed up I was diggin the mustard color and included the wall tapestry in a collection of useful and fun home decor items here. Initially I was going to frame it and place it over my mantel but I changed my mind and decided to use it as a makeshift tablecloth. Makeshift is good enough around here since I don’t own any ‘real’ tablecloths. Tip …… use whatever you can drape over your table. I actually used an unused curtain panel one Thanksgiving. You can see that table here.

Use what you have

Everything on the table except for the fresh Eucalyptus were things that I already had. My everyday dishes are sitting on some gold charges that I have owned for about 20 years. Back then I  wasn’t as creative to think that you can easily spray paint an inexpensive charger in any color you want. Tip…. Hit the after holiday sales at the stores to stock up on chargers.

Most years I love to design a pretty floral arrangement for my table but this year decide to put some eucalyptus in some gold seeded vases. I grouped the vases and flanked them with some gold candlesticks that I picked up here. I created a similar look on my mantel to tie it all together. Since I don’t have that many gold candle holders in my stash, I took some inexpensive glass one’s that I bought a few years ago from Hobby Lobby and painted them metallic gold. You would never know…unless my kids drop them.

I set this table for an annual brunch I have with my pals the other day and will use it for our Thanksgiving dinner as well.  I am chomping at the bit to decorate  for Christmas and will use a similar look and feel, sans the gold. But first things first…..let’s eat turkey.

Next up is Casey and Bridget from The DIY Playbook. I’m sure you will love their plaid inspired Thanksgiving Table.

Here’s the line-up for the entire tour. You won’t want to miss any of it!
