Four things every Porch should have this Fall Season
Four things every Porch should have this Fall Season including pumpkins, mums, and color
I was tinkering around with some mums and pumpkins this weekend on the front porch. My hubby was pressure washing getting rid of summer creatures ( the spiders were so bad this summer) as I envision quiet and cooler moments on the porch again. Honestly since we installed the pool last summer, the porch has not gotten the attention it used to. Although over the next few months I expect that to change. No polar plunge for this girl.
This year I plan to add some pumpkins, mums and make some pillows with a tablecloth that I picked up. When I get the pillows made I will show you how it all turned out. Until then, I wanted to share four things every Porch should have this Fall Season including pumpkins, mums, and now pretty tablecloths!
Four things every Southern Porch should have this Fall Season
Cozy Seating
Let’s start with the base of your porch. Furniture. Every porch needs good seating, since most people like to stay a while. I have had this wicker furniture for almost 12 years now. It started off brown and has had a few paint jobs over the years like blue and black. Despite the usage it gets, I love that it is still cozy and comfortable seating for my family and friends. Some of the wicker is looking aged but I think it adds to the character. I finally got rid of the metal couch that I got for $1 or something really cheap like that. The dogs have done a number on the previous cushions so I swapped them out for these gray pillow cushions that I will use instead. I got them at IKEA super cheap and with the price of replacement cushions this is such a great alternative….and cozy too.
Fall Color
I love to alternate seasonal color on the porch. Last year it was navy and mustard, one year a lighter blue, one year yellow. This year I love how orange works so well with the black furniture and gray cushions. Pick a pillow with your favorite seasonal color, throw in a few pumpkins or fall plants and your porch is ready to usher in the Fall season.
A pretty Wreath
This is pretty shocking but I bought a wreath this year instead of making one. For as long as I can remeber I have always made wreaths for the doors. Some of my favorites here , here and here have always looked so amazing on the front doors. But this year I just wanted something orange, and simple and bought it. For the cost of materials I find that some you can buy a wreath for the same price, depending on what you are looking for. To make the wreath look larger I am going to secure it to a large grapevine wreath.
Beautiful Mums
Ever porch needs some mums, southern or not. With the unseasonal warmer temps the white mums that I picked up will need to stay moist or they will die before quickly. I put together some easy tips to care for mums here that may be worth the read if you plan on picking some up this fall.
I’ll be sharing more of my favorite fall decor tips and ideas throughout the season. Have you decorated your front porch or entry way yet?
grateful
for Fall
Laura,
Unfortunately there is no “Southern Porch” at my house; only a courtyard with a wrought iron bench and a beautiful fountain that my kids gave me. Now I need to make a cozy cushion for my bench so I can enjoy the sound of my fountain.
There are so many beautiful decorations that are being used for Fall. I especially love your Orange and Blue colors you used on the 2017 porch. They look lovely! Florida Gator colors! 🙂 Thanks for all your neat ideas! Keep up the good work!
very beautiful!!
Such a pretty porch, Laura! You reminded me that I have to have my porch power washed…it’s a mess right now! Enjoy your week!
