I’m thrilled that I will be a mentor at this years Haven Conference July 12-14th in Charleston, SC. Haven is a blogging conference (although non-bloggers also attend) that I look forward to attending each year. A place to meet new friends, hug on old ones, learn what’s new in the blogging world and pick up a few tips and tricks in the blogging stratosphere.
If you are new here, Welcome to Duke Manor Farm. I’m Laura, the Chief Resident at my very own funny farm in a small town ( population 750) in Northeast Georgia. I’m the gal behind the Duke Manor Farm Blog.
In addition to writing my lifestyle blog, which I have done for the last 6 years, I am deeply passionate about my family, my home, and our animals. We moved to the country about 16 years ago after finding this property and building our home. Prior to that we lived in a suburb outside of Atlanta. Next came the kids, ( 10 year old boy girl twins and a 12 year old boy) and then came the critters.

When I am not writing the blog, or cleaning the poop out of the coop, I also love to get my hands dirty in my gardens. Duke Manor Farm sits on 25 acres. The property includes pasture land, wooded areas and a 50 acre lake.
And when my hands are clean, I think nothing of it to redesign or decorate a space in my own home, a friends home or a clients.

Here’s a few questions that each of us are answering on the Haven Mentor Blog Hop this week.
What is your best advice for a blogger?
You are more interesting then you think. Don’t be afraid to share your story with others. It’s inspiring, it’s unique and it’s beautiful. The blogging community is one of the most supportive and caring groups I have ever been apart of. We learn from each other, support each other and we celebrate each other.
What is your best advice for a new Haven Maven attendee?
My best advice for a new attendee would be to relax. Not gonna lie, walking into the room for the first time is a lot like being the new kid on the first day of school. There will be groups of people who already know each other…and then there’s you. Do not stand alone. Walk up to one of those groups and introduce your amazing self to everyone. Still paralyzed in fear? Find a mentor and we will gladly shower you with some love and introduce you to a few folks. Remember, we all get each other so there’s plenty to talk about.
Who are YOU most excited to see/meet at Haven this year?
I am excited to see YOU! The connections I have made with bloggers and brands is truly a gift. I feel blessed to share ‘in person’ relationships with bloggers that I have met over the years . We will meet up for lunch, talk on the phone or get together on trips throughout the year. Hopefully if I’m lucky enough, get the chance to mentor you at the conference.
