Make these Cake Plates using common items from around the house
I’m back this month with my Thrifty Style team to share 3 creative ways to make a cake plate using common items from around your house. The options are really endless but today I am using a toothbrush holder, candle stick and terra cotta saucer.

The instructions for assembling a cake plate are pretty basic regardless of what item you use. The most important step is securing your base to the pedestal. I have always used E6000.(affiliate link included) This adhesive pretty much bonds to anything and has certainly worked with the things that I have used it on. I have never put these cake plates in the dishwasher or submerged in water so not sure how it would hold up getting wet. I wipe down my cake plates with a wet rag.
To make any of these cake plates: Turn your plate upside down. Apply your glue to the bottom rim of the plate. Place your base item to the plate and let it dry for a few minutes. You want to make sure that your plate or top is not heavier then your base.

What I love about each of these ideas is that it took no time at all to put together and cost nearly nothing. Besides, they look so pretty with some yummy sweets on top. I hope some of these ideas inspire you to make a cake plate for your dessert table or kitchen counter.
