Decking the halls in the Screen Porch

Even though we just had some snow last week…in Georgia…in December, (see my pretty snow pictures here) we have had several days that we could still sit and enjoy our screen porch. Although our little portable heater is on standby. We love this space so much and even more so with some holiday cheer mixed in. It doesn’t take much to create a festive space for a room you love during the holiday season. And I think this room is evidence of that.

Start with pillows and cozy throws

Because the room is neutral it was easy to add color.  I used some of my favorite holiday pillows and throws to fill the sectional up with cozy. I thought I only could love this sectional in the warmer months, but I’m loving it in the winter too. It’s the perfect size for the room and for the family.

The only new addition to my holiday decor bin this year was some fun pom-pom garland that I found at Home Goods.   It’s like  a bunch of red and gray sweaters wrapped around little balls. Because the floor is stone and can get a bit chilly at times, I put down two 5×7 rugs that I had up in the guest house to cover the entire area. Toes are happy and it makes for a more cozy room.

We had a morning breakfast out here one day so I filled a tiered tray up with beverages and faux snowballs. The kids loved it! And we all had way to much fun…and donuts. You can find the snowballs here.

Fill your space with seasonal candles

You will find my favorite candle for the season burning All. The. Time. Honestly, I can’t enough of the smell. The other red candles sprinkled throughout the room are from the $1, $3 $5 spot at Target. I love the idea of faux lite candles, especially on timers but there is nothing like the smell of your favorite candle burning. Don’t you agree?

The really beauty of this room is the perfect amount of light in the morning, afternoon and early evenings. It’s become the “date night” spot at the house for me and hubby.

Repurpose  old decorations

Remember the stars I had outside last year?  I repurposed one for a hanging wreath. I’ll show you how I made it tomorrow on the blog. The pretty outdoor trees in the corner can either be set to clear or colored. We love both. I used the trees last year on the patio. For this space, I put them in some baskets.

  1. I just love your porch! Understated, but so festive and welcoming, and I would be sitting out there too! ( I have to confess to moving a dyson heater out on mine so I can enjoy sitting out there in the winter! Even GA is a little too cold sometimes. )

  2. Beautiful space! Do you have glass windows or just screens? I love my screened porch too, but things get wet if put too close to a wall and if the snow blows much, I get a light coating of snow on my furniture! Just wondered if you use glass windows or just screens.

  3. Your screened porch is a beauty!!! I can foresee another project going on in your screen porch next year….taking a guess and see if I am right 🙂 Have a very Merry Day Laura!!! I bet the kids are anxious for their Christmas/Winter break to begin!!!
