If you want a beautiful drop down chandelier, this is it

If you want a beautiful drop down chandelier, this is it… Clarissa Round Chandelier

When I turned this space into the Dining Room last Fall, I knew that I wanted the lighting to be the focal point. This is one of the first rooms you see when you come through my front doors. I wanted that ooh and aah moment, I wanted the Clarissa Round Chandelier to greet my guests. You can see the room that this table moved from here.

I had my eye on the Clarissa Round Chandelier for quite some time. I was waiting on the right time to buy it because it’s not cheap. I like to think of lighting as fine art and something that I will have forever. So to me, it’s worth the investment.

After I justified the cost in my mind, I was ready to buy the light but I had one small issue. The room had no electrical in the ceiling to hang a light. There are plenty of outlets in the wall and in the floor, but hanging an extension cord wasn’t exactly what I had in envisioned with this light. Lucky for me and the light, the area above my Dining Room is our attic.

My husband was able to did his thing with the electric and got the light hung. He even installed a dimmer as a bonus. If you are not experienced with electical projects like this, seek the help of a electrician.

After the light was hung, I put on a gazillion pieces of crystal on the light. Okay, it was more like 552.  I made sure to wear gloves so I would not get any of my finger prints on the pieces. I also made a cover for the chain. It was just a bit too much chain showing, so I used some fabric I had to cover it up.  I put the cover on before the light was hung from the ceiling. Basically cut a strip of fabric longer than the chain you want to cover and sew the two edges together.

I have no doubt that this light will be a treasured piece of art in my home for many years to come. When the light hits it, it’s magical. So, if you want a beautiful drop-down chandelier, this is it.

Update: this light is so beautiful and would work in many different rooms. After we converted the above dining space into a living room, I moved the light to hang over the piano in the music room.

  1. Beautiful fixture but It would be nice to see an evening shot with the chandelier turned on.

  2. The chandelier is beautiful and looks absolutely wonderful above your table, especially with all of the light in this space. I too had fallen in love with it at Pottery Barn, unfortunately it was not in my budget. After sulking for a few days, I went to Lowes to look at tiles, and in the light dept. was hanging almost the exact same chandelier, in my budget too! I did a little happy dance and it is now hanging above my dining table.

  3. Laura, we are building a new house right now and choosing the lighting is so much fun! Like you said, the lighting is like jewelry or art in the room. I’m off to check out this one because it looks amazing in your dining area. Love the way the sun is shining in on those crystals.
