Fall decorating ideas for outside
Fall decorating ideas for outside include simple touches to decorate for fall using what you have around the house.
There are two entryways on the front side of the house at Duke Manor Farm. The front porch and the breezeway. Since visitors will show up at either one, I like to decorate both in the same consistent way.
Fall decorating ideas for outside
Here’s a few fall decorating ideas for outside your home that will help to greet all who come to the door.
Scatter Pumpkins
Notice how you can scatter a few pumpkins around and it instantly screams Fall? If you can hold off buying pumpkins for a bit, your local pumpkin patch, and stores will be discounting the pumpkins closer to Thanksgiving. As long as the pumpkins are not damaged or the inside exposed to air, your pumpkins will last several weeks. Check out my tips for picking pumpkins out here.
I’m using my multipurpose wheelbarrow that I made to hold a few pumpkins as well. As soon as the cold weather sets in I will be moving the wheelbarrow to the backyard fire pit area and using it as a campfire caddy.  You can get my full tutorial on how to make the wheelbarrow here.
Hanging Basket using real and faux foilage
Instead of a traditional wreath hanging on the door, I decided to use this basket and fill it with tree clippings and seasonal picks that I had left over from this wreath.  In this case, I used the extra faux hydrangea blooms along with natural grasses, tree clippings, and clips of fern to fill my autumn basket.
Since the clippings will dry up in about 3 days, I will replace the tree clippings every few days throughout the month, so they remain fresh in the basket. Don’t be afraid to mix real and faux together to give a full, lush look to any arrangement.
Make it warm and cozy
Cozy up the entryway by adding a throw or pillow on your seat or bench.  I decided to carry out the orange from the pumpkins and use an orange throw along with a  velvet pillow. I wanted a more simple look when guests come to the door, so I used neutrals and solids so things wouldn’t get too distracting in this area.
I found these baskets that are all under $30.00 and may work for your next seasonal door. A great alternative to the traditional wreath. affiliate links included
I’m a big believer that creating and decorating a space right outside your front door is equally as important as how you decorate your home indoors. I like to think that what we do and how it looks is often an extension of who we are when friends and family come to the door.
By the way, it’s so warm here in North East Georgia that my pumpkins are sweating!

Your porch and pumpkins look so pretty! We carved pumpkins at a school event a week or so ago and had to throw them out because they rotted. I could imagine how yours are sweating down there! Luckily it has gotten chilly up here in NJ and we had frost last night. It’s funny, most of our guests are tripping over bikes to enter through the garage too! I need to close that door and force them all to the front door!
Enjoy your weekend!

Love it! I have been trying to find a basket like that. Where did you find yours?
Looks great — so inviting, Laura! We have the same problem that everyone wants to come through the garage… ugh!
