How to visit Cocoa Beach for the day
A few months back we had a chance to visit Cocoa Beach for the day. It was right before we sailed off for our family cruise. Cocoa Beach is just south of the port in Cape Canaveral so it was a perfect place to spend a couple of days. I will summarize Cocoa Beach in a few words….Sleepy Surf Beach town.
Walkway to the beach from our hotel
If you want quiet and not a lot of hoopla, then you will want to visit Cocoa Beach for the day. The town is quiet, not too crowded and commercial and the beaches are real pretty.
Tips and suggestions on how to visit Cocoa Beach for the day
We stayed at the Hilton Cocoa Beach and for the price you can’t beat it. The hotel is lovely, clean and right on the ocean. There was plenty of room in the pool for the kids, when they wanted to take a break from the ocean. The hotel has a nice poolside restaurant and the food was decent. There are also several places to eat near the hotel and up along North Atlantic Avenue, where the hotel is located. Our favorite meal was at a restaurant called Rusty’s. It was near the port. It was the perfect amount of atmosphere and the food was delicious! We spent the night devouring stuffed flounder and endless amounts of king crab legs…….
all while sporting our new shark hat from Ron Jon. Speaking of which I would say the most exiting thing we did in Cocoa Beach was visit Ron Jon Surf shop. hang ten dude
As a kid traveling 1-95 and the Florida Turnpike, I would always see the Ron Jon Surf Shop signs. I would wonder what exactly it was. Well now I know. Ron Jon is a 24 hour mega surf shop with lots of stuff in addition to the obvious…surf boards.
And although we didn’t walk out with a new surf or paddle board, we did walk out with some new hats and shades.
And the coolness factor lasted just long enough before we had to leave this sweet little beach town. I hope some of these tips and suggestions on how to visit Cocoa Beach for the day will come in handy if you are looking for a beach destination while staying on the Florida Coast.

Love Cocoa Beach…used to travel there as a teenager to go to the wonderful beach, surf, and go to the Ron Jon Shop!…It was and still is a happening place…Glad you had a great time!
We love Cocoa Beach!! It’s one of our favorite places to stay! We live close to the Keys and most people are like why travel? But it’s such a quaint little town like you say and two of our older kid live not far in Orlando! Glad you got to go again!
This looks so much fun! It looks like your family had a fabulous time.
