Happenings at Duke Manor Farm
Welcome to happenings at Duke Manor Farm, where I am trying to play a little catch up on what’s going on around here.
Whether you are ready for summer to end or not….it will happen. According to the Farmers Almanac the first official day of Fall this year will be September 22nd. My boys obviously are not. They sure did have the right idea over the weekend. Beach chairs, umbrellas, root beers and the sprinkler. Life is good.
I recently bought an ottoman from here that I wanted to put at the foot of my bed. It is the perfect length for my king size bed and I absolutely love everything about it. Unfortunatley the color didn’t work out. No worries though, it found a new home and is quite comfortable in the family room. I am looking for the same ottoman in navy blue.
Speaking of Fall, I made a rare trip to Home Goods the other day and picked up a couple of pillows to help usher in my favorite season of the year. My other Fall decor this year will be things that I already have. Before heading out and spending money, look around at what you have and what you have used in the past. You would be surprised how you can make it all work with a little mixing and matching. This orange throw was something I used for my summer bedroom look. I used it as my inspiration for the pillow choices for fall. The faux mohair throw is currently on sale here. I also have it in twilight color.
Our funny farm is growing. A week ago, this guy showed up at the property. Without checking ‘things’ out first , the kids thought it was a girl and called her Cookie Dough. We have since changed his name to Peanut Butter. I will take him to get vetted on Thursday to see if he is chipped and has an owner. If not, we will foster until we officially decide to keep him. He is the sweetest puppy but has destroyed no less then 4 pairs of outdoor shoes and 2 dog beds, oh and a soccer ball.
And we have 4 new kittens. This is Wilson. Because I am allergic ( the cats are barn cats), but the the family loves cats, I said yes to a friend that had more kitties then she could handle. We will get the youngest kitties this week when they are old enough. So far the cats, chickens, and dogs are all getting along…….
which is a beautiful but boring thing around this funny farm of mine!
Thanks for stopping by Happenings at Duke Manor Farm.
grateful
for my real life funny farm
will your kittens stay outside? chris is allergic, too, but emmy loves kittens. she loves all creatures great and small, that girl.
loving the orange in your home- perfect fall touch with the blues!
love pb- he’s adorable! i hope he ends up a keeper.
and the pic of your boys is a CLASSIC!
OMG, how many animals do y’all have now. I must come visit the zoo!!
Too warm here to really think of fall. I am like your boys and holding on!! I will add pumpkins, fall plantings, etc. later on – usually October. I don’t do a whole lot of fall inside. Just cozy things up a bit. Plus, one color I absolutely do not like is orange!! LOL Too bad when you live in Tennessee. It’s everywhere! I was just looking at ottomans – wanting an aqua/turquoise shade as a coffee table in my sunroom. Ha! Great minds think alike.
Sweet doggie – I hope you keep him!
You are a special person to take in the pets with no home. I so admire that in you. The ottoman is gorgeous, if the wrong color.

Looking forward to some cooler weather and fall decorating – it’s my favorite time of the year even though I live in Florida. I hope the pup finds a great home. 😃
mine too and then Spring. Not a fan of cold or hot weather. I am somewhere in between. hope you are having a great week
Just trying to stay dry during Tropical Storm Hermine. Oh the joys of living in Florida. 😉
Check on Grandin Road and Frontgate online….I think I have seen that bench in navy in a catalog..😉.

Looks and sounds like a busy start to a new school year with lots of fun, new animals and accessories! 🙂
more mouths to feed!
Oh, I just love Peanut Butter! He has the sweetest eyes. I hope he gets to stay with you.
Peanut seems to be biting up Everything. The latest was a new pair of flip flops that I accidentally left at his level in the garage.
Peanut Butter is adorable!…..He reminds me of my granddog!…
