Quick and Easy Outdoor Decor Ideas
Well it’s not officially summer yet, yet temps around here hoovering in the mid 90’s, so I think that’s close enough to call it what it is….hot. With that in mind, today I am sharing some quick and easy outdoor decor ideas, so you can spend more time cooling off on the patio instead of decorating it.
I’m joining my favorite monthly challenge group, Decor Enthusiasts, to use what you already have to love your space that much more . You will find the links at the end of this post.
This is my front porch ready for the lazy days of summer. We love this space and treat it like another room in the house, except flies and mosquitoes are frequent guests. To see the full tour and space click here.
Idea 1- Paint existing outdoor furniture
A year ago the front porch furniture looked more like this. Pretty and bright. It was about this time that we got the exterior of the house painted. I wanted the furniture to be a bit darker so i painted the furniture as well. I love the contrast between the light house and the dark furniture. To paint outdoor wicker furniture just clean it off to remove any surface dirt and dust, spray with a good primer, apply 2-3 coats of exterior semi gloss paint. Instantly changes the look in your space.
Idea 2- Put your blooms in something other then a traditional vase
Go ahead and put your blooms in a lantern, bowl, basket or shell. The more creative you are, the more interesting your arrangement will look, don’t you think? Oh, another thing, if you don’t have at least one hydrangea bush in your yard, as soon as your done reading this, go and buy one. They never disappoint and the blooms in various colors are show stoppers as cut flowers…or left on the bush.
Idea 3- Use TV or table trays as an outdoor server or bar cart.
Tray Table/stemless wine glasses
Forget about expensive metal trays to hold foor and beverage when you are entertaining outdoors, re-purpose an unused tv tray or pick up a outdoor wood tray for a lot less cost. If your space is covered then any wood should do fine in your area. If it’s exposed to the elements then use a wood that is designed specifically to be outside. These teak tray tables are on my back patio that is partially covered.
Idea 4- Move your indoor artwork outdoors.
Look around the inside of your home and see what might work on the outside of your home. This ‘J’ was on the wall in my keeping room and I thought it would look super cute on the back patio…and it does. I spray painted it blue to coordinate with the color scheme that I have going on.
4 Quick and Easy Outdoor Decor Ideas that you can do this afternoon….as soon as you return with your new hydrangea bushes.
