Wood Plank Ceiling Reveal
Wood plank ceiling reveal.
I never really showed you the last project that we worked on for the year, the wood plank ceiling in the breakfast room. We started this project right before Thanksgiving. We planned on doing the ceiling for a year, so we were thrilled to get it done. If you missed it, you can catch up here.
Can I just take a moment to tell you how much we love the ceiling? Okay…..We absolutely love the ceiling.

Honestly, when we finished the ceiling in the family room here, I didn’t think I could love a ceiling more…. but I do. Once we finished it,e knew that we wanted to create the same look and feeling for this adjoining space. Since both ceilings are similar in heights it flowed better in these rooms..
Here is the ceiling in the family room.We finished this a year ago.
The family room ceiling was a bit more time intensive, because my husband used a ladder to go up and down for each board. As you can imagine, it took a lonnnnnng time. We knew going into the breakfast room ceiling that we needed to be smarter about the job and purchased some scaffolding ( it was cheaper to buy then to rent for the week) . Although the same materials were used, we had to use a bit more wood as this ceiling is much larger.
Here’s the Breakfast room ceiling.
I was all too thrilled to remove the non working ceiling fan from the room, and hang this beautiful light instead. I thought the black finish was a nice contrast to the white ceiling and my light colored walls. Initially I did not think it would provide enough lighting for the room, but it does.
Here’s a before and after of the ceiling.
And if these ceilings weren’t enough for us, we actually worked on the ceiling in the sitting room over the weekend. Not a lot of big changes. We just wanted to break the Thanksgiving tradition!
What projects are you working on this month?
grateful
for a plan
Wow – What a big undertaking, but worth all your efforts. The ceiling looks fabulous!
thanks so much Diane. looking forward to seeing the changes you will be making your new home.
It looks amazing! And I love the new light. And I love the ceilings in our home but if I ever were to change… I’d call you & your hubby to drive a few minutes to Bostwick & do it for me! 😀
Oh my word, this is so fabulous. A ton of work, but wow.
I just want the beams! Hey, I say holidays and transformations go together.
Laura…IT’S BEAUTIFUL!!! Your efforts definitely paid off:) I have that kind of ceiling too but I think if I tell my husband, his head might just explode:D I’ll have to show him these pics!!! Maybe that will do the trick;) Wish me luck! Have a great day:)

Well worth the industrial decor of the scaffolding for Thanksgiving! They turned out wonderful~
I would love my ugly ceilings done like that & they’re much, much smaller, actually your husband could have them done in a day probably.
In the meantime you enjoy yours & I’ll keep showing the pictures of yours to my husband & see if he catches on!
great job
love it and love those beams. is it bad that I am so jealous.
If we get ambitious you can rent your scaffolding to us 😉 I am in love with your ceiling!
