Happy New Year
Happy New Year sweet friends! It feels like forever that I sat down to write a post, 8 days actually, and it feels good to get behind the camera and the computer again and share some inspiration, stories and happenings around my real life funny farm at Duke Manor Farm.
The year couldn’t have ended better or started more amazing then spending it with my high school bff and her husband. Remember that we reunited back in November after 25 years, if not you can catch up here. Well, they were in Charlotte for a few days after Christmas and decided to make a road trip down to Northeast Georgia, to spend New Years with me and my family before heading home to Indiana. Although they must have thought they were in Florida with 70 degree temps.
I couldn’t have been more thrilled to host them here at Duke Manor and spend more time catching up. The 24 hours that I had in Indiana back in November wasn’t nearly enough time to fill in all the blanks after 25 years. The minute they came driving down the driveway, I was that giddy girl all over again, waiting to talk, laugh and hug my friend of so many years.
You know you have a friend for life when you can catch up like no time has passed. And other then those few wrinkles ( me not her), we are still the same people that met 36 years ago in the high school cafeteria. During our visit, we laughed about all the similarities that we share as adults, that we never could have expected or planned as teenage girls. Things like, we both don’t like clutter on the kitchen counters, we parent our children similarly, we love campfires, we have some of the same pictures and decor and we’ve been watching the bachelor since it first started years ago. See what I mean….friend for life.
I can’t even begin to tell you how blessed I feel to have the gift of her friendship in my life and what it means to me, and how lucky I am that we have found a place for each other in our life’s again. I normally don’t make resolutions but if I did, I would resolve not to let so much time pass by before calling or visiting a friend that you really care about….25 years is a lot of chatting and shopping to catch up on.
Happy New Year.
Here’s to many amazing moments in 2016 and to friendship!
grateful
for Jodi
PS- Aren’t those flowers just gorgeous! The arrangement is called the Blooms of Hope Bouquet from FTD. They were gracious enough to send me a pretty bouquet just in time for the New Year….and the visit with my girlfriend.

The gift of friendship is one of the best gifts in life….I am so happy that you were able to spend more time with your BFF from school….We always say to people…”we must get together soon”….well, that truly for the most part never happens…I try to make an effort to truly mean that…as friends make our lives richer…like your friend has done for you…on another note, love the wallpaper and those flowers are gorgeous!!!! Laura,
I have a friend from LSU/Baton Rouge years and we’ve known each other since 1966. We had hit and miss correspondence and a few calls until the invention of email. With email, we are always in touch, sharing stories, good and bad news, and photos. With email, our friendship continues, bolstered by an actual visit at least once a year – her place or mine.
