What bonds us together…. pie

I consider myself to be pretty fortunate and blessed to have such amazing girl friends. Girlfriends from every aspect of my life. Friends from my childhood, school, my corporate career, my single life, my married life, my blogging life, and my mom life. breakfast room

I would like to think that the commonalities we share and the differences we bring into the relationship, are gifts for a lifetime. I have friends who are teachers, doctors, lawyers, business owners, actors , successful corporate professionals, and friends who have never worked to receive a paycheck. Friends that are single, moms, grand moms, married and divorced. I have friends that have never picked up a paintbrush…and have no intention to. Friends that are amazing cooks and friends who burn everything they cook. Friends that have various political views and some who can care less. Friends with different religious denominations but all who feel blessed.

Friends that work out 5 days a week and some, that have never stepped foot in a gym. Friends that travel the world and friends that have never been on a plane. Friends who blog, friends who have no idea what a blog is. Friends who are vegetarians and friends who love a good steak. Friends that love country music and friends that rock out to classical.

Friends with kids and friends that will never have children. Friends who clean themselves and friends lucky enough to have someone else do it. Friends that speak several languages, and some that know just one. And while our differences are many, the one thing that bonds us together is our precious time together. Relishing the moments of our lives, chatting, laughing, crying, drinking coffee….. and eating pie.

Since I am the friend who’s not very good in the kitchen, I like to offer things that look like I have been working in the kitchen for hours before the gals come over. Lucky for me, Marie Callender’s delivers delicious homemade quality pies like this Chocolate Satin pie with a rich chocolate filling, made-from-scratch crust and topped with real chocolate curls.

  12. Hi

    I enjoyed that blog post.

I have spent quite a few years in my life travelling out east. Whenever the urge hit to have something really great for desert, I would stop in at a Marie Callender’s pie. It has been a while; I don’t remember if it was the one you are recommending or another. I think any of the pies they well would be great :).

Your post was also a great reminder to be thankful for all of our friends who may span across many paths of life. Mine certainly do.

    cheers, “Pearce”

  13. You said a mouthful…..pun intended! I’m grateful also for a wonderful life. Certainly not perfect, but it’s my life and I love living it. Blessings aplenty….good health, two grown sons, an almost daughterinlaw, and my husband and I are fortunate to live near our parents. Thanks for sharing your enjoyable blog!

  14. Sometimes my girl friends and I just go out for lunch or dinner, and sometimes I host. I love cooking and baking and I will invite 4 or 5 over for a tea party and make homemade scones and other savories, or homemade tomato soup with cheddar dill scones, individual raspberry cheesecakes, Russian wedding cookies, soft ginger cookies – especially for Christmas. I love making pretty tablescapes, napkin rings, and fun ways to present the food. Afterall, presentation is a gift to the eyes before the food hits the taste buds!

  15. I bond with my friends during our shopping/dinner times. I also bond by being there in tough times.

    Blessings

  16. The is such a sweet post (no pun intended when it comes to the pies!). I think you are so blessed to have so many friends, especially those that come from so many years back—those friendships are hard to maintain. Even staying in touch with former co-workers, I missed that when I became a stay at home mom and it was sad to watch our lives drift apart. Wow, I’m a real Debby Downer!! Just really happy for the place you are in now, Laura!

  20. Oh gosh….bonding with friends and family is a precious gift. You have many precious gifts in your life. Bonding, whether we get together over lunch, an event, a club, or just to pick up the phone and see how someone is…no text, no email..just picking up the phone and saying hello….that is so very special…I have done that and have been on the receiving end of that (and you know what I mean)….the personal aspect of communication is going away slowly….so we need to make that extra effort to take the time to make a person feel special…to put a smile on their face because we took the time to “bond” ….. and of course bonding over pie is a good thing too!

  37. We get together over coffee or a great meal. We talk about family, children & brag about wonderful grandchildren. I find rather than complaining about husbands we do more bragging about them too. Now that my daughter is a mother she has become my best friend. She is in Japan as her husband is in Navy. She still asks for recipes, advice once in a while & we just miss spending time together. We do FaceTime usually with kids. To talk alone, the best is 8 or 9am for me which is 10 or 11 pm for her. We talk about most everything without anyone else around. We also play words with friends, which is great to stay in touch. We can leave messages on the game too. Lots of different ways to stay in touch depending on person.

  38. We bond by going out to dinner together once in a while, or having each other over.
Thanks for the chance to win!
