Coastal Inspired Den Reveal
One of the first projects that I finished when the kids went back to school was making some updates to the den.It needed it. The family spends a lot of time in here, gaming, reading or watching tv, and it was becoming a hodge podge of sorts. We love the beach so much, so I decided to go with a coastal inspired space. The coastal vibes…without the sand and surf. You can see the other looks for this space here.
This space has been the recipient of many hand me downs from other rooms, so I thought it was time to buy new with the purchase of the sectional and chair. I bought those pieces over the summer at IKEA and couldn’t be happier with the quality and comfort and although I haven’t needed to wash them yet, all the covers come off, which was my primary motivation for purchasing the couch and chair in the first place. The leather ottoman was previously in this space.
The white couch and blue walls are a perfect backdrop for just about any color and I look forward to switching it up, and I just love how the coral, blue and black accents are working in the room. I moved the coral and blue striped pillows and throws from the family room upstairs. I picked up the other pillows and the Red Crab art on the wall at Home Store. My Love Lives Here sign tutorial can be found here.
I took an old bench and turned into a multipurpose piece, coffee table or additional seating. It was previously white but I went ahead and distressed it a bit so the highly anticipated scratch or knick from the kids will fit right in and be totally transparent. I have had the rug a while and it was actually in this space previously. I am crazy about the black stripes.
I had a nautical inspired space in my guest room in our previous home and love how I could use these prints that I purchased about 15 years old and make them look new again in this room.
The gallery wall surrounding the TV, is a collection of stuff that I had, I made, I have moved and …………
that I love.
After all….. love does live here and are watching TV and playing video games right now.

I love how light and bright your home is. Still working on opening up the older sections of my house. Someday there will be bright light!!!!! Love your new decor!
Looks great! I saw that crab sign at At Home, too. That dang store is HUGE!

You know I love that coastal look! Loving everything about your den!!! 🙂 Linda
Love certainly does live there!….LOVE the makeover and glad that you are happy with the sofa…perfect for your family…must say that in addition to the gorgeous pillows and artwork, I so love the color scheme you chose…so very soothing and happy!….Great job as always Laura!…You make your family’s hearts happy!
This is GORGEOUS! No hand-me-downs here no more! But you are a brave woman. When my kids were that age, the slipcovers would have spent more time in the washing machine than on the furniture!
Fantastic transformations. Love that Crab sign so pretty. You always do an amaxing job.

Love the coastal theme. Pretty. What is the wall color?
I love it. It makes me feel all sandy, but that’s a good thing.
I LOVE it! The colors are perfect and I love a nautical vibe, it’s so refreshing (especially since you don’t live in a winter tundra like I do!). The sectional is gorgeous, you will love slipcovers. I’ve only had to wash mine once in 5 years. Watch out when your kids do homework (ballpoint pens) and anyone with new blue jeans (the dye rubs off). Tried and true horrible experiences.
Love all of your wall art, makes me want to get going on the bakehouse. 🙂 your decorating talent is unbelievable!
