Monday Musings- Patio Peek, Musical Rug, and Life Stuff

Hello sweet friends! It’s the start to another beautiful week. I am actually in countdown mode. I have less then 120 hours and 13 mins to go before the fussing, fighting and chaos gets turned up a bit around here…. The start of summer Vacation. Yup, the kiddos get on Friday and in all honesty, I am really looking forward to hanging out with them this summer. 

 I’m not kidding though about the fussing, fighting and chaos, that’s an added bonus, that’s why getting my outdoor spaces ready for some quiet time, is key around here. 

I have never mentioned anything here on the blog, but my heart still breaks thinking about my little Kayla who is now in doggie heaven. We had to put her down in March. Another time I will share more details.

But then I look at this happy little guy, and just smile. Colton’s team faced off with an undefeated team on Friday night to win the finals. This was his first year playing soccer and we couldn’t be more proud of him.

I did a little switcheroo with some rugs last week and took the rug out of my office and layered it on top of the sisal rug in the family room. I love the extra layer it provides and how it works so well with the other blue’s going on in there.


Do you ever do this. Take a mirror and place a vase and some flowers on it. The reflection adds some real cool visual interest. Just thought I would share. Aren’t those the sweetest little blooms and the color is fabulous.

  1. Laura, I am so happy about summer too! It's always too short here in Michigan. I'm sorry about your sweet Kayla. I had a Westie many years ago and they are my favorite dogs. So sweet and playful.

  5. Cute porch! Love the pillow. So sorry about Kayka – dogs become such a part of the family. I always loved summer vacation and having kids home even tho it was always he tis especially as they got older.

    I'm sure you will have a fantastic summer with your sweet ones.

  6. Love the colors on the porch. I didn't know you lost sweet Kayla. I'm so sorry. Have you ever revealed the whole family room makeover? I think not. Chop chop, girl. Congrats to Colton!! Have fun with the kids this summer.

  8. I loved those summer days when we could sleep a little later…getting up and facing the chaos was not fun though.

    I love that blue rug, the layering is a neat idea. I was looking at your sofa table under the TV…do you remember where you found that?
