Black and White Bathroom Makeover
A month or so before Christmas, I decided I didn’t have enough to do in between wrapping presents, decorating the house, getting ready for out of town guests, and randomly decided to change the color of a guest bath in the house.
The guest bath across from our media room was painted red when we first moved into the house. Believe it or not, the media room and game room were also painted in the same color. In fact, this was the red…….
And as much as I liked the color when I painted it, I thought it was time to get rid of the red and brighten the space up a bit. So, after what seemed like 100 coats of white on the walls and trim, the room began to transform. I used an egg shell finish on the walls and semi-gloss on the trim.
I originally painted the ceiling black and I wanted to keep it that way.
100 coats of paint later (not really, more like 3) I would say that I achieved my goal in my black and white bathroom makeover with my random act of painting that day. I feel like the space is so much brighter now and I love how my black and white checkered floor pops against the white.
And as much as I love color, I am feeling a bit content right now with my black and white bathroom makeover, with just the black and white color scheme going on. Down the road, I plan on adding pops of color on the walls and a rug, in another random moment ….just not red, at least not on the walls anyways.

It looks fabulous, you just can't go wrong with black and white, it looks classic and fresh. I love it.
I agree looks fresh and classic and the ceiling is a hit! Love it.
Love, love, love it and I love that you kept the ceiling black…such a dramatic effect…you did a great job and I can just see you working it in-between your many things that happen in your busy life!….
I love the transformation — talk about the power of paint! — and the wall art has me drooling. I'm off to find some of my own! Have no idea where I'll hang it though. And your pictures are just lovely! As always!
